I never really gamed it - used it once or twice.  It's a keepsake that I won't sell.  It still looks unused/new.

 

I mainly use a Bettinardi Inovai 6.0.  The Byron I use the most is my 006 flow neck.

Smooth face is the best, most feedback and softest feel imo

Here you go.  This feels really soft and muted, especially for a stainless putter.  The best feeling putter is my stainless 006 with a minimal face mill and a sound slot.  It "should" feel clicky but it's just perfect.

Awesome thanks. I’ve always wondered what exactly the sound slot did...is it more of a “ping” sound or a dull thud?

Not a ping at all.  It's supposed to make the impact sound more audible.  I was a little nervous when I ordered it sound unheard back in 2007 or so, but when it arrived I was glad I did.  I just sounds great.

Yeah I’m in the same boat. Deciding on smooth, or tuna milled face as well as sound slot. Difficult to make the choice when I can’t physically try them out. That being said, I appreciate your help.

Byron told me the other day he would be willing to relaunch the Epic Day putter if a lot of 50 were commissioned to be built.  Are there 49 others that want an Epic Day putter?  😁

Would be cool to see that shape come back. I'm sure if he had a better social media presence this could happen fairly easy.

He's definitely pumping out putters but I'm talking about doing a run of the Epic Day. He posts his work but never really says what's upcoming, what's in the works, what people may want. Just putter after putter which I'm totally fine with.

 

Like I heard he's doing to do a run of the 620 in LH and but I have no idea if those heads ever came in, if they're still planning on doing it. Yes I could email him but I'm just saying regular joe who follows him.

Oh I do and love when he does a photo dump of what he's been working on but I haven't seen a LH 620. Would have saved the pic. But not a big deal just saying how social media and proper websites are huge for putter makers these days.

Could have sworn I saw a LH 620 posted but I looked through his IG posts and didn't find one.  Agreed on the social media and website points, but Byron's never been totally "current" with either and does fine.  Too bad PutterTalk went away.

Yeah a lot of these older guys either stick to their old ways or have their kid help out. I mean look at the change Kevin Burns has had with his son helping out. But I think Byron has the legacy to do what he's doing until he doesn't want to anymore.

 

And yes always miss PT, I joined when it came back but it was a short time when I was a member. But man I would just pick a thread and scroll the info and pics for hours.

PT was a terrific site.  I think I was member #135 or something like that. I joined either late on day 1 or early on day 2.  I loved seeing all of Byron's putters, especially every one I ever ordered from him.  I also loved the TP Mills board.  Those two I was the most active on.

I sincerely hope so.  There was a treasure trove of info there.  A lot of the little guys were able to sustain a following thru the generosity of the owner of PutterTalk, for sure.

Per discussions on the puttertalk facebook page it will be back soon.  this is what was posted ( I assume by Doug)

 

Hey everybody. Just letting everyone know that we were able to secure the domain again, and are working to get the site back up in the next week or so.

Not going to be posting a lot of articles, and we'll likely take the store down, but the forums WILL exist again. If for nothing more than an archive or a place for a few friends to hang out. More on the story to come.

That's great news!  It was a nice archive for Byron, Lajosi and Lamont - I wished I had downloaded the photos of all of my customs before the site went dark.  Hopefully they're able to restore the old forums with photos.
