New Callaway Irons - APEX MB, X Forged CB, X Forged UT

Just listened to it.  I know they changed their driver measurements as well for the Mavrik.  Otherwise, they had a pretty good rundown on the products.

Hit these at PGA Superstore in Palm Desert.  Really loved the feel.  Uncharacteristically soft for a Callaway forging (in a good way)

So is the CB supposed to be like an Apex Pro? Or between the Pro and standard Apex in terms of forgiveness?

Cally rep said to me that they feel the CB is more forgiving than the Apex Pro. Ballspeed is def. lower than with a standard Apex (obviously).

We have a set of the CBs coming along with an 18 and 21 UT for my Son - hopefully here by end of November.  One of his high school teammate's Father is a master fitter for Callaway and my Son was able to demo the CBs for a full week and really liked them.  He is coming from a set of P790s and is looking to move to more of a players CB iron for consistency (he is a +1 and was the state of NH individual HS winner this Fall).  He loved the feel and was surprised that he was only about 1/2 club shorter with the stock IO shaft.  He was fitted into a heavier KBS shaft so it will be interesting to see how he adjusts.

x-forged cb performs well in my test too. It definitely feels soft and plays more forgiving than last generation x-forged 18. I would play it if I can get over the looks.

since orders have been shipped out the past few weeks, wondering if anyone has anymore feedback after receiving theirs? Do the cb's really have the offset that everyone is claiming? 

 

really like the looks of the mb, but don't know if i can game a 4/5 iron mb. I know the easy answer is get 4/5 iron in the cb, but I feel like there is a big difference from these cb's to the mb's compared to the previous gen in 2018 when the long irons in x forged blended a little better than this generation.

 

anyone who ordered a combo set, if you can chime in that would be a great help

I'm not in love with the X-Forged look but it sounds like an amazing CB iron for feel and tuning.  Hopefully they will how low distance disbursement.  I hate the 15 yard flier you can get in some of the other distance clubs.  I look forward seeing how they perform.  

 

Any thoughts on a smoked set.  Been playing smoked irons irons since 2005 Cleveland Ta3s

I’ve played a few rounds with mine, haven’t had the flier.  It has taken me some time to get used to the offset.. but the feel is outstanding. Very easy to work the ball.
