Stumbled upon this: ”the holy grail”

Recommended Posts

OP, the holy grail is the best thing in golf instruction, I feel like just because something isn’t commonly taught or if it doesn’t have golf channel production level then they assume it to be untrue.  I was lucky enough to learn the holy grail move before overhand golf posted his videos but it is basically the same thing.  Here is the before and after impact positions... both full speed swings and my handicap has gone from 12 to scratch in a year! Although my short game got better I attribute at least half of it to better ball striking.  Learn this move!!

Haha I have slept on it now and maybe you guys are right, just thought it was a good visual to have for the shaft pitch coming down, but I agree that calling it the holy grail is a bit... much 😅

Nah - nothing works for everyone and Everything works for no one 🙂

Being a sponge I watched it and found it interesting but its not something I can add to my complicated, disheveled, discombobulated assemblage of swing motions that someone actually allow me to achieve a reasonable ball- flight in periodically consistent ways to rarely perform to my inner desired state of golf nirvana

Maybe I need a drink .....

Are you sure you haven't already had one?

Here is the holy grail creating many new customers for monte.

training a fall back, drop the right shoulder move .
So much wrong here.

The first rule of the Dunning-Kruger club is that you don’t know you are a member.   The second rule is that we’re all members from time to time.

One drink and that's it. Don't be rude. Drink your drink... do it quickly. Say good night...and go home ...

That’s a different topic not the holy grail, some people have success with this shoulder movement and some prefer monte.  The holy grail is universal and every golfer should learn it to get in a proper impact position

Wait this is the shoulder movement he makes in the holy grail video.

It is not Monte’s  movement it is the movement that elite swings and other good swings do - keep the left shoulder down not drop the right which leads to pivot stall, ee, poor low point especially with irons, and a path that can too far out to the right - all requiring compensation which even if they happen still don’t lead to better impact than keeping the left shoulder down

Good luck with this move

if he is this wrong on the shoulders why would anyone want to do his holy grail, whatever that is - rhetorical here.

I see what you are saying, the shoulder move it seems to me is more of what you should try to do to get the desired results... similar to no turn cast

I ageee, it’s snake oil.   Unprofessional presentation with a PayPal account to boot.   I hate to be “that guy”, but I have to question the OP’s investment in this as well. 🤷‍♂️

“Snake oil“?  Why - because it helps one person but not necessarily you?  If you have been golfing long enough you know by now they are a thousand different methods of teaching, as well as different “feels“ for different folks to achieve the same results......

And really, you accuse the OP of having something “invested” in the guys videos because he had the nerve to post his positive results with this method.  You’re a bj.

I tried to search the forum but couldn’t find anything about this. This is a really good description about the feel to get the shaft to pitch into the correct P6 position to facilitate a good path into the ball, calls it the holy grail of golf 😃 Really liked his way of explaining this despite the low production value. Has anyone else seen his channel? A bit like Monte in his early days...

Overhand golf at youtube

'A bit like Monte in his early days', except without being a former World long drive champion! 😜

I don’t know what a bj is (well, i do know what a bj is, but not in this context), but if you want to pick a fight 11 posts into your GolfWRX career, you might want to least acccurately try to make me eat my words.  I did not, as you say, “accuse” the OP of anything.  I merely questioned.  That question then somehow tripped your trigger enough that you had to respond with personal judgement and name calling.  (I think, since I haven’t figured out the bj thing.🤷‍♂️)

Welcome to WRX. 👍

I found these video's a while back as well. I actually really like the feel and mental picture. It works for me.

Now, I will readily admit that I am not an expert. But isn't this feel of hitting the imaginary ball down with your shaft another way/feel to achieve the same goal as with advocating a NTC / 'lead with right elbow' feel? Namely, preventing an OTT move by getting your arms in the slot first?

The guy is explaining his feelings through his golf swing.  If he helps one person his job is done.  I applaud him for making content.  Millions of ways to play the game.  Always keep looking for improvement and finding out what works for you is the key.  I love trying out all this stuff.
