It all depends when they hit stores. I tend to buy my balls at the beginning of the season when they do the 4for3 deal. The left dash might be hard to test before then.

I would think it would be best to test before then. Ask a store to split a couple dozens and get two sleeves of each. When the 4-3 deal rolls around you’re ready.

Unless things have changed I don't think you can buy the left dash retail, you need to order it in.

What I anticipate is that I won't be able to get my hands on the left dash before the deal comes up.

True your honor!

Not sure why but I tend to think of Titleist as a company that does not lower itself to some of the more common silly golf ads that make not sense to avid golfers. Those of us very active in the game, know there is not 'one ball to rule them all' .

I took it to mean that he really liked the ball. I didn’t expect anyone on Golfwrx to actually believe it is a perfect ball. Obviously it is an ad.

I didn’t know I’d be sentenced to the gas chamber. Guess you didn’t want to do it - Just felt you owed it to me.

At this point is there really anything left to do in premium golf ball land other than tweak the feel?

Titleist should just start numbering the variants of ProV1 and keeping them in production / stock so that they can run off each variant whenever the demand is there.

There’s always something to improve on, even if the change is minimal. Another website’s Twitter account said this year’s model is the biggest advancement since the original. We’ll see.

This is what happens for the Pro's. It is actually a cool idea but I doubt the money is there to do it.

I'm really curious how many variants Titleist has in production right now.

I'm also really curious how big a name you have to be to merit keeping a ball in production.

One interesting balance is around the number of models. The 'best' ball is only going to best for only a percentage of players, in theory more models could help more people get closer to their ideal ball. I would think the next BIG advancement will be more ball customisation and fitting.

I don't think it is too far fetched that at some point we will actually have a chip in a 'fitting ball' that players pair with a smart phone to collect data that can be used to choose an ideal ball. Not soon but some day.

I am not sure if they are production or if they just kept stock of them. I have heard of guys using models as old as 2013. Given for years there has been stealth models like the * and the s in addition the Pro V1 and Pro V1X, I would guess they have access to 12-20 choices of Pro V1 variations.

Not far fetched at all. Had the same thought yesterday. Race ya to the patent? ha! Sadly, I feel if I've thought of it by now, someone else already did years ago.

I don't think the technology is much of a stretch, it is making the $numbers$ work I expect.

Should be same thing. Pro V1 and V1X come out odd number years. But the 'stealth' balls don't necessarily follow the pattern. The left dash is the first  (I think) to be released to the consumer. So basically with the left dash I can only guess.

Ok thanks.  I have 4 dozen of the Pro V1X  left dash I got this year but haven’t hit them yet.  With the lockdown and then knee injury I didn’t want to hit them until my swing was back on form.

I agree, I think technology that more easily explains and shows how a ball is better for you is the next big advancement.  It’s easy to quantify why one shaft over another is better but it’s just not the same with the ball.

Hope they keep making it in yellow.

If they don't it's a non-starter for me.  I was thrilled to death when they finally did.

I've been a Z-Star guy for a long time, but I really like the latest version of the Pro V1/V1x yellow. Haven't spent enough time to determine which would be best for me.

I tried the Z-Star XV and it's outstanding.  At this point, it's the only ball that could pull me away from a ProV1x.  I have to keep trying it out as long as the weather holds, but it's really good!
