^^^ +1 for the Big Moss putting mats.  I have had mine going on 2 years now and it's been fantastic and has held up.  I have 12' one.

I’ve heard great things about Big Moss as well. I ended up getting the perfect practice 9 ft mat. It rolls nice and fast on hardwood and I like the alignment guides. However, I hope I don’t become too dependent on them, and feel lost when I’m on a real green.

+ 1 for Big Moss.  Had one for at least 10 years and it still looks great.  I use it year-round in the basement, rolling it up only occasionally.

Wanted to follow up on my previous post now that I've had the perfect practice mat for 2 months.  I still love the thing as use it daily.  Mostly because it's in my home office and I'm great at procrastinating.  I've never practiced putting before this, and feel that I now have a good idea of what works best for me going into the new season.

They had good deals at Christmas and currently have 15% off their entire site I think using code "15OFF" (thank you Paige Sprniac) at https://www.perfectpractice.golf/?ref=15off

I have a PuttOut that I find very good. I haven't really found the groove issue with mine. I hit somewhere between 175-200 putts a day on it. My favorite feature is all the lines. It really helps me see what a square face looks like at address as well as the aim points down the line. Before I had this I always set up with the face a hair open. That said, I am looking at adding a second mat without lines. Leaning towards a Big Moss after all of the glowing reviews here.

Cant speak highly enough of my wellputt mat.  Used it right through lockdown in 2020 and my putting has improved a lot.  Just need a really flat surface to put it on which I have.  I use it with their metal tees for gate drills etc and eyeline myroll balls.

Those with experience with Big Moss - would rolling it up after each use be an issue or a pain in the butt? I don’t have the space to keep it out all the time. Currently I roll the PuttOut mat out at night after the kids are asleep and roll it back up. The tube and bag it comes in is easy and convenient. Not looking at getting one of the large Big Moss - maybe the 3x9 or something slightly larger. Would rolling it up and storing it be feasible each night? Just not sure how the foundation they speak of works. Thanks for the insight!

I searched high and low for my 1st putting mat.  Requirements:

Could stand on to put.

Holes vs cups.

Multiple targets.

Quality build.

Lays flat w/o kink/curling.

Affordable.

Bonus - ability to uphill putt and contour shims.

ODYSSEY 12'x3' PUTTING MAT

THIS THING IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!

It checked every box and I love the thing!  I cannot recommend highly enough!  About $74 from RBG.

The pic is just after I unrolled it.  Top needs to flatten but it was -3 outside....lol

I'm a weekend warrior so I can't offer you a stimp rating.   I will just say it feels like a very true roll.

Slower than astroturf on concrete and faster than shag carpeting.

If I was playing a course I would tell my buddy the greens are really nice meaning faster than slow.

Slow = needing way to much force to move the ball.

Fast/quick = just taaaaap it in.

Really good = true roll, good speed, my favorite.

If you google it you may find better ways of describing it.

But my friend, dollar for dollar, I couldn't beat it.

I have a Big Moss and love it. The edges may a little curled when you first roll it out, but it shouldn’t be that big of a deal to roll it up daily.

I got a Wellputt and rolling putts on it is very enjoyable. It’s high quality and has a good heft to it to stay put.

What I really want is a Brunswick Only Green though. This thing is next level! That’s what I would get if I had space in my home...

I bought this inexpensive Putt-a-Bout mat from Amazon about six months ago. I've found the surface to be smooth and durable. I'd estimate the speed at about 10, not too fast or too slow.  https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HXAJ4VQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have it on concrete floor in my workshop. The floor is perfectly level on the left half of the mat and has a gentle right-to-left break on the right side (due to how the floor was poured).

The wood scraps aren't holding the edges down. They're there to catch balls. It's amazing how far a golf ball will roll on smooth concrete when you miss your target!

I'm curious to learn how you guys use your mats. I use the Putt Out trainer and other targets of various sizes like that spray adhesive can. I'm mostly working on mechanics, trying to be as consistent as possible, and trying to get the purest roll on the ball while making sure I'm starting it on my intended line.

Lately I've been going back and forth with the two putters I have used on the course this season, hoping to learn which one of those helps me meet those goals most often.

I can't see how a more expensive or "full featured" putting mat would help me any more than this one does. The most important thing is to actually practice putting and develop a consistent routine!

I been putting on every rug in my house for the last year it seems.  one day I tried putting on one of my wife's yoga mats. it was fast, maybe 11-13 but it true as the floor.  I practice about five foot putts on it.  works surprisingly well.  otherwise Im on an old persian that's breaks every with way but straight and it has also been a good thing for my putting, bit firmer has helped a lot recently.

I ordered a Big Moss and it arrived a few weeks ago. Definitely hard to be the value you get for it. It rolls great. I have that and the PuttOut set up in the same room, I love them both for different purposes. The PuttOut has really helped my putting now that the courses are open. The lines are great for making sure you line up square every time.

I bought a birdieball 4x10. Rolls up quickly for storage in the garage. Have put it down and putted for 30 minutes every night since it arrived sunday. Will see over the next few weeks if it will help. After a few days it seems to have. I have a tendency to get my path left and pull putts more than anything else. The reps the last few days have allowed me to start to ingrain a feeling of keeping the putter chasing down the line better.

Don't know how the reps will do anything but help. I'm getting more reps in to work on path and I'm able to more reps working on just pure speed on short putts.

Added benefit...my 7yr will not practice putting. But he wants to putt inside. My 3yr old has asked to putt twice since I let him Sunday.

First round after using mine for a week. Tough day conditions-wise. 20-25 mph wind all day. Only hit 10 greens. But, 29 putts. I realised that I don't putt aggressively enough after my last round 2 weeks ago. Worked on hammering 7 footers into the birdie ball "flagstick" all week.

On course I focused on taking a touch of break out of putts and hitting them with more speed.

Missed my first 2 putts inside 10 feet and made bogies on 3 and 4. After that, made everything inside 10 feet and had 4 other putts outside 20 feet that easily could have gone in.

Made

- 6 footer on 6 for birdie

- 4 footer for par after hitting 20 footer past the hole on 7

- 7 footer for par on 8 after leaving a 40 footer short

- 6 footer for par on 13

- 6 footer for par on 15 after leaving a putt from 3 feet off the green short

Firmer short putts with less break. Helped by hitting 25-30 of those every night of the week since my birdie ball came in.

If you haven’t tried the “balls of steel” training aid you should.  It helped me significantly inside 5 feet hit putts firm and knock the back out of the cup.   I thought they were a hoax until I gave them a solid year as my warm up routine before the round.
