Who's course vlogs do you enjoy?

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this but I am looking for recommendations for course vlogs.

Reviews and instruction videos are great and all but sometimes I just like to watch a youtube video of someone paying golf. Maybe the weather sucks or I just can't get out myself. Are there any well shot course vlogs/vloggers on youtube that I should check out?

A few years ago, Finch and Shiels used to have some decent ones, but not really anymore.  I tried watching Crossfield's and those became unwatchable.  The No Laying Up ones in Scotland were okay for some views of some courses, but honestly, watching people deal with hangovers and generally goofing off isn't all that interesting to me so pretty much don't ever watch any and haven't for a long time.  I guess it will be interesting to see if there are any other decent ones to watch.  Some folks just get a little borderline childish when they are filming and I suppose they think that gets views and subscribers and maybe it does.  I'm more interested in getting looks at golf courses and if the "talent" gets too much in the way it's distracting.

Yeah, I would say that is what I'm looking to avoid. Honestly if there's something out there that is just someone playing and not talking at all, I'd watch it. The less shenanigans, the better.

Golfholics have a huge catalog and good production. I disagree with Hawkeye77, NLU has great videos, I enjoy their stuff. BryanBros would be the last universal recommendation. There are a bunch of others out there but they won't be for everyone.

All of this being said there will be videos on each of these channels with guests you won't like and you just move on. I don't need to watch 100% of anything.

Golfholics for beautiful camera work and great showcase of courses (highly skilled attractive female players often included)

Bryan Bros for straight up skilled players.

GM Golf for goofy fun vlogs, and the more serious series of "Sunday Matches" they do.

Those are the main ones I watch as far as playing vlogs go, Crossfield TXG Finch ect for all general golf based content. TXG has a few good course vlogs in there library as well though, with neat on screen details for each shot with gc quad data.

Erik Anders Lang has some great videos out there, both with "Adventures in Golf" and his new channel. There can be quite a bit of fluff dialogue as he's really into 'the story but his camera work is the best out there and they even edit in their own pro tracer.

His newer series where he tries to break 90 at US Open and other major tracks are straight up course VLOGS with the latest one being narrated by the guy who played Kevin in The Office. I get he's not going to be everybody's course vlog cup-a-tea but hey, variety is the spice of life and I do love the fact that there are so many different guys doing course vlogs these days.

I'm familiar with TXG (I think i've watched their whole catalog), Crossfield, Finch, and Sheils etc. Definitely looking for a bit more of the "beautiful camera work" stuff.

Check out golfsidekicks    The way of the playa.  He got really interesting golf vlogs from courses in Thailand and South Africa that I wish I could to visit    (They have caddies in some golf courses )

I like  his sense of humor and seems to really enjoy playing. His video production is very good

I like Kyle Berkshire's course vlogs as well.  Very straightforward and professional in presentation, and he plays some tough tracks from the tips.  Plus, watching someone hit the ball 350+ through the air with a standard length driver whilst using a balanced/controlled swing is pretty entertaining.

I agree with Golf Sidekick.

Great courses. Doesn't try to be too funny.

Good advice on course management which I've been trying to incorporate for lower scores.

Golfholics I watched a bit of and it wasn't for me. Seems to fraternity-style for me.

I like his course management videos and has one hour Video devoted to improve putting that I enjoyed    Fairways , greens and getting the ball into hole.  That what it’s all about.  Seems simple but not really

Mr. Short Game's on-course videos are fantastic. You're just following along with a pretty good golfer as he works his way around the course. No real frills, and he's very honest about his play. I'm always a little skeptical that these YouTube golfers aren't editing out bad shots, but he clearly keeps in his duffs and mishits.

Golf Sidekick is probably my favorite even if he's playing courses I probably never will. Just love how he approaches the game.

Thanks for the recommendations so far. I'll have to check some of them out. I did watch a NLU video yesterday. I didn't think it was bad, but I'm not sure they are my cup of Tea. I forgot all about Mr. Shortgame. I do enjoy his on course stuff. Simply just someone playing golf better than I can. Golf Sidekick Sounds like I'll have to check it out.

One of the better videos I watched, and this isn't an advertisement, was for 2nd Swing Golf (retailer) where the did video of a golf fitting for an older golfer.

It was interesting to see the practice of it being done, and done with someone who isn't an amazing player.

I always feel like "I'm not good enough to NEED a fitting" yet, but it covers topics pretty well on what might be important when looking for new clubs.

As far as training videos go, Malaska Golf is interesting. He goes a little against the grain in being somewhat blunt in his approach, but it's refreshing in that it's not all jellybeans and peanutbutter cups.

I gotta check out this golf sidekick guy, I've never even heard of him or have seen one of his videos on my recommended videos on YouTube. Weird how they suggest certain things to you based on your views, subs, likes, ect, but some peoples content never crosses your path.

My favorites ones: txg but not a lot of playing videos though we’re going to Do more but COVID slowed those down and golf sidekick is excellent. Shields and finch ok but not as good as used to be. Michael newton ok but haven’t seen a playing video from him. Some of Brodie smiths’ are ok. Replay liked the ones where he played with Jon rahm.
