The D looks good and I would get it, but wish there was an 8 degree model because like to loft up to close the face a bit to help me start my fade left.

Is the D really that draw biased? How does it spin compared to the Sim and Max?

You could go with the upright 4 degree setting on a 9 and that starts the ball more left. Swing path would still let the ball fade.

I would agree with those calling for a deeper-faced version of the SIM. I had this year's SIM in the bag for a bit but eventually went back to the M5 as the face profile of the M5 is quite a bit more appealing to me.

More like there is nothing to offer ("nothing official"); there is no news, so the first post kills the thread, so then everyone speculates on what they'd like SIM 2.0 to be instead.

Man, just picked up a Sim Max and we already discussing 2.0 jk jk

A simple black/white color scheme would be great. Even throw in some copper? Like on the FCG.

Its interesting, the intent of this post is writing/sharing words which are exactly what they don't want to read....hmmmm

To the OP I think there is enough of an opinion here for TM to launch a 390-430-440cc SIM Super DEEP TP line.  That would be so nice

I think you will see small changes and incremental gain. I could be way off. But I honestly cant think how they will blow away their current driver. Unless it is in some other way that is more intangible. Feel, sound, slight shape changes. Maybe something other than a made for ventus in a more premium option...

Maybe they will go away from the white. I have no idea. I will say it will be good I just wonder how fast they can honestly top the SIM. It is "that" good.

Everyone says that perfect contact ball speed has been maxed out for years so the differences OEM's are trying to accomplish are ways to increase your clubhead speed (aerodynamics, weight), more forgiving, and ball speed retention on off center hits. In some other thread someone suggested that if you could keep a driver maxed out in the middle where they test then you can go over the max slightly toe side where most better players strike the ball.

Sure, the OEMs are chasing off center contact improvement and center face contact optimization which will give you same gain. I am not saying that the next driver will be no better. I am simply saying the sim is really really good. It will be hard to top so fast.. at least in real life on the course gains. For some it may, for other maybe not..

I think the SIM is great.

I totally agree with you that the SIM 2.0 won't be much of an improvement, more like 2016 M2 and 2017 M2. Some might not see an improvement at all. I was more bringing up where the next level of improvement would come from and where OEMs are focusing now. Probably a few years before we see another jump.

M2, M4, M6 all about the same, then jump up to the next level of performance with SIM.

I played the SIM for about a month this summer and had to go away from it. I love the look and color scheme. Unfortunately, the shallow head was an issue for me. My miss is typically high toe and teeing the ball so low was strange to me. If they made the same head with a deeper face (Epic Flash Sub Zero deep), I would buy it immediately and never look back. While I’m begging for a hypothetical club, can we ever go back to headcovers that protect the shafts as well? I hate the boxing glove headcovers everyone has these days. Guess I’m pry just getting old and uncool.

I think one area where a few manufacturers have found extra speed is moving the cog as far out in the toe as they can. Ping and TM are two that come to mind. Since the toe is the fastest moving part of the club, sometimes several miles an hour faster, having the cog out there offers more potential. The Downside (or upside-depending on the golfer) is very fade biased driver.

I could be totally wrong but all those calling for deep faces, your asking for higher cog and higher spin. Thats why i think the shallow face of the sim works so well. Just my two cents.

I agree, I think that these companies have found better ways to reduce spin than deep faces for the most part.

interestingly the most forgiving highest launching SIM had the deepest face..

Yeah it's kind of like the 983K vs. 983E, or the TM 320 vs. 300. The shallower one has a greater theoretical upside, but it also was hard for me to get comfortable.

Separately, I heard a rumor that there is a whole new line coming out next year that everyone internally at TM is super excited about, they are expecting a big year. Should be announced around EOY and released in Jan/Feb. I guess I can wait that long before pulling the trigger on a TSi3 since I am a TM driver loyalist.

New driver comes out in February. It will be brought forward due to minimal stock available of the current models. In Australia it's all but impossible to get a driver or woods through custom orders.

I cracked my M3 this weekend and when I got notification of my Warranty Replacement my ship date is January 11th 😤.

I am not complaining that they are honoring the warranty but insane how backed up they are.

I was very skeptical of SIM face height.  I have always preferred a deep face driver.  However, I could not be more satisfied.  For me, the face height is absolutley perfect for my swing with the Martini tees that have the set height.  Having the ball tee’d up at the exact same height every time has added so much consistency for me.  With my MAV SZ those “set height” tees were too low.  With SIM....absolutely perfect.  SIM has made me a believer, it’s legit.

I was told they are getting stock off Australia fitters to send back to the states. Don't know how true it is but suposibly at TM fitting events here in Australia you can only get fit into irons, wedges and putters. Also told P series irons are a minimum of 8 weeks!

What we know so far...

  • TM will definitely release a new driver line in 2021
  • We will not see the TP logo anytime soon (really want to be wrong here)
  • sub 400cc is not gonna happen (unless Original One 2 comes out)
  • Johnny Wunder is excited about it
  • sooooo many more sleeps

What we don't know

  • everything else

Please update as you see fit.

I'm not an engineer but as I understand it, the deeper face is used for the sole purpose of raising the center of gravity and lowering spin. That's why you see the better player's version of driver is almost always the deeper faced driver. Callaway's sub zero models are always deeper faced. The TSi3 is deeper faced than the TSi2. The same holds true for fairways woods. That's why the more shallow and stretched the wood is, the lower and further back the center of gravity is. Again, I could be completely wrong but that's my understanding.

Sorry for taking away from the thread. Back to the SIM 2.0. Bring me a deep head and keep the same color scheme! Thanks!
