Golfwrx is the reason for embargos. In the past it wasn't a issue. We'd see all kinds of prototypes or tour only models. The pros would play the retail models months before release.

How is GolfWRX the reason for this? No horse in this race, just curious to know the rationale there.

Well it was a long time ago back in 2005 where wrx posted pictures of tour prototypes and pre-release clubs before there was such thing as embargo dates or at least with online forum's. I dont know when things changed but pictures were never taken down when posted

I get that, but I don't see how that equals "GolfWRX is the reason for embargos" as though it was their decision?

Those were the Wild Wild West days. Back when forums, not just WRX, were where you saw and learned about all the new/proto clubs months before anyone else knew they existed. Pictures, details, and speculation was welcome. It's not one forums at fault. It's more so the popularity of forums increasing and OEM's getting more involved.

Exactly but wrx was king and oems took note due to wrx blowing up with interest from all the information.

Wrx is what .02% of the golfing population? I think the manufacturers just wanted more control in their releases and marketing. This stuff is mad. Ive heard Some people will break the embargo and get fired... really??! Thats nuts

Wrx is bigger than that. You can dabble in the first pages of tour and pre release forms here and the titles and replies speak for themselves. Unfortunately pictures didn't stick around. Yeah there may have been smaller forums doing the same thing but golfwrx was and still is the most popular and the reason oems created embargos.

It may very well be a PART of the reason. But i promise you, they got their ducks in a row as far as marketing is concerned, and thats the main driving force.

They meaning oems? Correct. Oem Marketing realized what was happening on forums, other oems were seeing competitors clubs before releasing their products. That was the main driving force into embargo dates back then. Nowadays its more for building anticipation for the next new release. Look at everyone begging for leak pictures. Its creates attention. Just because you're only seeing a hand full of replies doesn't exclude the millions world wide reading these forums. We can debating about it but its no doubt wrx changed golf marketing and was a HUGE part of embargos

Ah ok, I thought you were implying the GolfWRX created the embargos themselves, which didn't make sense, my bad.

Ok well we are in some type of agreement then, why the hate for mods and golfwrx for deleting posts and pictures? It is what it is, I certainly am fine with it if it means all the oems come here and interact as well as giveaways and testing. Yea we can reminisce about the good ol days, like every generation does, but that will just make you old and bitter 🤪.

Perhaps. But to be on the forums back in 2006 was a great time for golf enthusiasts. It created and fueled golf junkies around the world. And to see a bunch of prototypes being in players bags really made it special. You don't see that anymore

Carbon sole looks good. However, I think the adjustability marketing factor is going to be missed - while people may not adjust the clubs often I do think the ability sells.  They may need to bring down the price to move masses of these considering the “non adjustable” TaylorMade line to as has always been around $100 cheaper than the flagship adjustable model.

They moved the injection port for the resin from the face to toeside and with the backweight being toeside because of the angled sole for aero purposes maybe the front weight needs to be a little heel side to even it all out
