Taylormade SIM 2.0

SIM hasn't even been out a year. How much more technology could they have crammed into the 2.0? Crazy to me that TMAG comes out with new driver info every 10-11 months saying "now we've pushed the limit blah blah blah". Granted, the SIM was a vast improvement but how much further can they go?

They released the first official pictures on January 6th last year. It hasn't been released yet. So it's not 10-11 months, it's a year. Just like Callaway, Cobra, etc.

Looking forward to it. The TMAG offerings haven't been able to kick the Titleist driver out of the bag in the last 10 years but we'll keep trying with each release. Kudos on the SIM though, your company really made vast improvements with that head over the M-lines

There were rumors and rumblings all the way back to the first few weeks in October. WRX has plenty of members in the know and are usually pretty reliable when it comes to the rumor mill.

Were you not around in the late 2000's, early 2010's when they had a new driver every 4-5 months at some points? They are not any different now then Callaway, Cobra.

Of course I was around but was the hype was never more than this past release of the SIM. I'm not blaming TMAG and I also understand that almost all OEM do this. Just curious how much new innovation is going into 2.0

I can say with 100% certainty there are differences. The SIM2 is almost a completely different driver from the SIM. What those differences equates to in performance is still to be seen. But it is different.. It is not just a repackaged SIM with new paint..

The sim 2 titanium fairway is the design I hoped they released last year.  Maybe this version will be more popular with others as well.

As excited as I am for a fairway that feels like my Original One mini-driver, I will not be paying $400 retail for a fairway wood.  I think this price diminishes the Ti release.  For example, Tour Edge's $400 price point hurt their sales a few years ago.

It certainly could; but I think there’s probably more of an appetite (warranted or not) to spend more on a “big name” product.

I’m excited to try the driver, if it’s truly different from the SIM it may be better, or it may be different in a way that’s less suited to me.  Time will tell.  I probably won’t try the FW only due to the fact there isn’t a 16.5.  I absolutely LOVE my SIM Ti 3W, but would like it in 16.5 so I could open it up 1 click to soften my natural draw.  So I doubt the SIM2 is much better than the current SIM 3W.

Like @QuigleyDU mentioned, on paper at least it looks a good bit different. The amount of effort they seem to have put in to freeing up weight (all carbon sole, aluminum back, reduced speed injection) means they are likely making some decent CG moves, and that is one of the biggest markers for performance change.

Liked how they were cranking the sound on the SIM2 commercial.  Seems like they focused on improving the sound of the driver.  Just speculation, but they sound a little more tingy then claypoty.  That was my only complaint last year besides the shape of the sim.  Performance was good.

Funny, I thought the shape of the SIM was almost perfect.

Same, I love how it is asymmetrical and shifted towards the toe from mass/visual standpoint. I can see how some people would hate that though.

Something about the length from the front of the club to the back of the club throws me off.  I assume it has something to do with the paint and not the measured length.

Hope the paint scheme fits my eye this year.  It’s gonna come down to the TSi and SIM2 for me.

I'd be willing to bet that was the plan all along honestly. The front weight track had been phased out since the M3, and while reintroducing it allowed for some adjustability and some of that lower CG/lower MOI launch monitor bomb potential, it left an easy thing to get rid off and free up weight to move back and make the driver more stable. I'm curious so see whether or not this leads to the "The SIM2 is more forgiving and stable, but the SIM is longer when struck well" kind of scenario.

Then some shotty back shop kid recorded the conversation while attempting to make his TikTok video of cleaning the carts in a “cool” manner, realized what he heard and posted the audio on some golf forum where all us old, degenerate, wanna-be pros and club preten-gineers speculate on the likes and dislikes before even seeing the club in their hands, and especially the headcover and it’s respective performance benefits. 😂😂😂

No possible way this is wrong. I know a guy who sells insurance. His favorite bartender said he served a starter who works at this same course. He said he was in that pro shop when the pro and rep were talking and apparently, the pro shop is only 85 square feet, so he could hear the entire conversation. Mark it down.

I bet it's going to be a rough driver for those of us who prefer a bit more forward CoG...
