Taylormade SIM 2.0

i'm not sure it was a glitch in the DSG website, as another member posted previously I received a letter that stated there were certain "no cost" shaft upgrades that I qualified for if i ordered between 1/21 and 1/24....i'm not sure if everyone qualified for this or how i did but I did spend quite a bit at both DSG and GG last year.

I may be leaning this way as well, still undecided... What do you think the cost is for DSG and GG on a Fuji Velocore shaft... maybe $100-$150 on a retail of $250??

 

They'd probably make their losses on the shaft freebies back with their margins on the heads if they saw a large "influx" of orders. something to think about...

Went on the custom website.  They have eliminated the “1 inch softer” selection for tipping.  So what does that mean then?  Every custom shaft is standard 1 inch tipped?  I would not buy a velocore 1 inch tipped.

It's a rounding error for DSG regardless if it was intentional. The decision to cancel the orders comes down to whether they risk pissing off ~50 people compared to losing ~$5k or breaking even? My guess is that they take the $28k in revenue, keep customer loyalty (especially for those willing to pay $530 for a driver that is expected to ship 6 weeks later) and move on. Taylor Made and Fujikura have to be thrilled with the outcome because it gets their high-end products in market

Just went on the website after seeing your post. Configured a Ventus Blue w/velocore. the "soft" option is still there for me.

I will go in and recheck. Keep in mind I was on the Canadian website so that might be the issue.

My error.  All up charge shafts have the no tipping option ie 1 degree soft.   So does that mean non upcharge shafts are not tipped?

No, there are non-upcharge shafts that are tipped 1" standard (e.g. ProForce V2). From the investigation that was done earlier in this thread and from what some folks have been told by TM reps, it appears that the stock shafts are not tipped, but most of the rest are.

 

The best advice is still to always check the custom shop to see how TM tip trims your selected shaft, even if you're ordering from somewhere other than TaylorMade.

It seems like that is the case. Both the Diamana S Ltd and Tensei AV Raw Blue can only be tipped hard 1". Even the $250 Tensei AV Raw White can only be tipped hard too. The regular Tensei CK White can be tipped soft an inch, as well as the upcharge Tensei Pro Orange. It seems different for every shaft, and I don't really understand why that is. MCA's website has the recommended tipping for all of these at 0" for a driver.

I just spoke with a TM rep and they said to me, 'Taylormade tips all Ventus shafts 1" except the stock blue(non-vel) They do it bc that's the way those shafts are supposed to be played" 

 

They also said, you have to request that it not be tipped through the company you ordered from. 😏

Went through the fitting at GG for the TM day yesterday.  Spoke to the rep and the “no charge select shaft option” was fancy marketing for “free stock options”.  So any no-charge up charges would be a glitch.  Hope it pans out.  I ordered the Hybrid with real Ventus for only $105 up charge instead of the normal $150.  It says preparing for shipment but I haven’t been charged yet.  I guess we’ll wait and see.....

Spoke with TM about both order edits and ship date. 

You can contact TM if GG or DGS won't help you, and they can add notes to your order by looking up your name and order #.

 

Ship date on GG - he had no idea why it said 1/30 on mine as he said nothing will ship on his end until 2/19. They are building everything now and will begin shipments on 2/19. I guess we will all know in a week what GG's ship date means...

I've contacted both GG and TM in an attempt to get a shaft that's not tipped per TM standard of 1".  I had GG add a note to my order stating "no tipping" and called TM to verify.  Basically, TM told me that I would need to have the change made through GG as they can't actually access the order to make a change on their system.  More importantly, TM told me that my note would just indicate no additional tipping, so I needed to make an update for 1" SOFT tipping.

 

Basically, I've made so many inquiries and notes that I'm expecting to get anything from untipped to 2" tipped at this point lol

I'm beginning to think the same thing. I ordered mine +.75" long as I wanted it tipped 1" and didn't know if they would. So that gave me plenty of room to tip if needed, and then trim butt to length as needed. I wanted to make sure that they maintained the standard SW and didn't send a light head. Fortunately, I can always add weight to the head but I'm with you as who knows at this point.

It’ll be coming straight from Taylormade is my guess so definitely won’t be getting anything early unfortunately 😢
