Went on the custom website.  They have eliminated the “1 inch softer” selection for tipping.  So what does that mean then?  Every custom shaft is standard 1 inch tipped?  I would not buy a velocore 1 inch tipped.

100%.  I’d dispute the charge on a 1 inch tipped velocore.  Having owned all the options for them both tipped snd not , 1 inch is beyond extreme for that shaft , if the shaft itself fits you at all.

Took the mySim tool for a spin tonight.  Love the options, it's really cool but for the extra $$$ I was sad (but not surprised) to see no option for loft/lie requests.

Maybe how these are assembled it wouldn't be feasible due to the one off nature?

If Ping can do loft for $20 then I think it would be possible at $150.

Just heard back from GG customer service who said that they reached out to TM who said that: "this order is currently being built" so they wouldn't be able to "soft tip" or for us, leave the shaft untipped. Just brutal. Hopefully that this is just a mistake and they'll leave it uptipped.

I'm surprised they would tip the Velocore version as Fuji's recommendation is not to. I'll be looking forward to seeing this thread towards the end of Feb to see what kind of presents TM built for them. Getting the feeling it will be all over the map...

Got the same response from GG unfortunately.  Guess it's back to beating down the door's at TM trying to get something fixed.

Did anyone get a Ventus Velocore custom ordered from TM last year? Seems it would be easy to check the length from logo to bottom of the tip to see if it's tipped?

Hah! No worries, I am far from a designer too, but what I do know is that all of this weight movement simply contributes to where the single point that is the head's center of gravity ends up. X-axis (heel/toe), Y-axis (up/down), and Z-axis (front/back). The X-axis relative to the center of the face will determine draw/fade bias via horizontal gear effects, the Y-axis relative to the center will govern backspin via vertical gear effects, and the Z-axis will determine how strong those effects are, which we interpret as stability. The classic SLDR was low spin due to due being forward CG (low stability) and lower CG. It also had a draw bias which was why so much noise was made about moving weight toe side as much as possible to counteract it. People hit bombs, but misses were severely punished as the low stability route to getting low spin is just that, unstable (strong gear effects on miss hits). Since then we have been slowly making our way towards the opposite end of the spectrum with high MOI/stability while trying to maintain low spin. Since we aren't getting the low spin from the exaggerated gear effects of a lower MOI driver like the SLDR, we're trying to get it from lower CG placement, which is inherently much more difficult to manufacture given what we have all collectively decided a driver head needs to look like aesthetically, and that is a shape that is hard to move weight low and back within. Hence carbon fiber, aluminum, lighter weight titanium, and whatever else won't explode under stress that can save weight to be concentrated down and back.

We never got 2020 MOI numbers right? I'm still waiting for a lower CG G400 Max. The side view of the Sim 2 looks like they got the weight as low and far back as possible, and I can order it in all black. Could be a winner?

They were all tipped 1” since first being able to order.
They still are.
If all the people complaining about them being tipped, you should have ensured that whoever you were ordering through had their protocols in place to ensure you get your builds properly.

oh well, small price to pay if you managed to be one of the individuals who got a free Ventus incorrectly, be happy you’re getting the shaft, regardless if it’s tipped, as you sound spoiled at this point TBH.

It's been interesting FOR SURE.  I've heard multiple answers for the same question from different reps from GG as well as TM. I kept saying  "I JUST WANT 1" SOFT TIP"  😂🤦‍♂️

Im looking forward to playing with a metal rod attached to my SIM 2.  more to come...

Agreed, thanks for the info!

Also, if TM has always been tipping these 1", I assume it's because they KNOW how the shaft is supposed to play with an adapter on it?

I had a Ventus black last year in the SIM, untipped “1 inch soft” per ordering online through the custom portal.  Never bothered to measure.

No, they are just the only company doing this for whatever reason.

Wonder if that is why a lot of the tour pros are going ventus black in 6 over 7 due to the balance point and the 7x being on the lines of counterbalanced.

In comparing the stock 60g 6.5 RDX Black vs the 6x Ventus Black, there was almost a 2pt SW difference with VB being the one lighter. There is a higher balance point to the Ventus, in my opinion.

How does that compare to a Tensei Pro Orange?

Interesting I never knew the Ventus Black had any counterbalance.

Following.
I would think it is because 6x is already stable enough for their swing speed. You want to play the lightest with same stability, right.

I was only able to test with the Raw Orange w/Arccos grip and found it to be 1SW lighter in a G425 Max vs RDX Black 75 TX in the exact same length.

I don’t know the exact numbers because it’s a demo shaft for the Orange so I couldn’t pull the grip to see if the Arccos actually affects the balance.

This was the 15th swing without any warmup with a 6x tipped 0.5” at 45.25”

Going to be hard pressed to get a more smooth, stable feel, in my opinion and will start the season with it in the bag.
