I might have missed it in all the different threads; but for those that have seen the goods.....I want a hybrid with an adjustable hosel....will I be excited or disappointed?

I don't know what you look for in a hybrid, but I was pleasantly surprised by the hybrid.  I was sitting around all day at work, and hit the new SIM and hybrid without much of a warmup.  I've played Adams hybrids for a long time, and the shape reminded me a bit of my 9031, but just a bit longer from heel to toe.

I tried the 3H (19.5*) with the stock stiff shaft and was getting good distance while only swinging it at about 90 mph.  Spin was about 3000 and carry was a bit over 200 yards...207 yards was the longest.  It felt really solid.  I wasn't expecting it to go as far as it did just based off of the sound/feel.

I started tinkering with a proto I found on BST and it has knocked my SIM out the bag.  I love the SIM but misses were punishing.  Not as bad on the proto. Always thought twist face never suited me.

Proto booted the SIM and Mavrik out of my bag.  Ball speeds were similar but the dispersion and forgiveness across the face were amazing on the Proto.  Misses went much further for me and for the first time ever I played point and shoot golf w/ the driver end of summer.

Any idea on the timing for these? I got fit into the sim fairway over the weekend, but it looks like Taylormade has almost nothing left. When I checked their custom page for the sim (not max), they only had left handed five woods available for customization. I can only assume that means they are depleting stock in preparation for the new model coming soon. January?

It'll be February or March they're released.

TM are running down the stock as well by the looks of it.

Took 4 weeks to get my SIM Max that I was fitted for at the end of September.

Was going to go for a SIM Max 3 wood, but what with the Covid lockdown here in the UK and the joys of the British weather, I think I'll just hold off getting it and go for the new product when it's released.

Love the hype though 😎

Forgot to say as well, if you follow Meandmygolf on Instagram, Andy mentioned they have a busy couple of weeks coming up.

They're in Bermuda at the moment filming content, but he said they'll be going to Cali to shoot the new TM product release afterwards.

So I'm guessing TM will be getting all the guys together over the next couple of weeks after The Masters.

It wouldn't be too surprising to me if it doesn't for the simple fact that weight tracks like TM have been using ironically use up a lot of discretionary weight and raise a driver's CG. If the goal with the SIM is to continue being very low CG while increasing MOI as has been the pattern for the last 4 driver releases, then the easiest way to do that would be to eliminate the weight track, especially one that is in the front of the club. IMO PING and now Titleist have it right with the rear weight track design as it can still be kept relatively low while also moving any necessary extra weight to support it back, increasing MOI. I wouldn't be surprised to actually see TM jump on that type of design for the 2022 model as they have never really done the real "low" rear weight track. Both the M3 and M5 rear weight options were much higher in the head.

Remember TM popularized MWT and the original R7 had the 4 wgt plugs......so going back to their roots maybe?

I think that still poses a bit of the same problem in the structural sense because of the structure needed to house those types of weights. It is almost impossible for the structure housing that type of moveable weight to be truly low in the head. If you look at profile shots of the R7/R9/R11 variants with MWT, the weights invariably end up "higher" in the head. Even the rear weights are not as low as they could be.

I think PING and Titleist have it right as I think I mentioned, they both improved upon what they had previously in terms of concentrating weight low and back. The SIM sole design is great too, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a wider, track-style adjustable version at some point. I also think that the model PING is using and TM has just started to use makes the most sense; three different models to cover the widest possible CG range. Trying to cram all of your adjustability into one model is always going to be a compromise because the further you push adjustability, the more discretionary weight you lose, and that loss is almost always going towards things that raise CG and lower MOI (weight tracks/ports primarily). The M-Series line is a perfect example of that as each subsequent model's CG got higher and higher as they expanded adjustability. So making a low spin model with a slight fade bias, a neutral model with high MOI, and a draw biased model means that you can squeeze the most out of each one without trying to have it all in one package.
