Please recommend a 16.5* or 17* compact 4 wood that is easy to hit.

I got one of those as well!  Mine is 15 degrees though.  I love it.

I bought a 2i B-35 hybrid head from Monark Golf because it was cheap and had a square to open face(compared to most fairway woods) only it weighed the same as a 4 wood so I extended the shaft to a 4 wood length and it is an absolute missle off the tee. It looks like the old PT-15.

The Mavrik 4wd or Titleist TS2 are both good. if you need spin go with the TS2 if you don't, go with the Mavrik.

Agree, my 917 F2 with Diamana D+ 80x has been a loyal servant over the last 4 years.  Feel and performance excellent.  Goes high and straight!  Haven't hit the Mavrik.

Thanks to this topic, I picked up a TS2 16.5 and stuck a Fuji P95 @42.5" and it is stupid easy to hit.  First fw I've put in my bag in over a decade

Hmm... I have the 917 in 16.5* and I think it looks huge.  I may be shopping in the spring to find a more compact replacement.  Everybody has their own preferences though.

Tsi2 4 wd, cobra f9, g410 5wd or sft 3wd. Buy all 3 and pick the one that works the best.

Agree with earlier votes for Super Hybrid 17.  Not technically a fairway wood but goes as far as any three wood I’ve ever managed to flush (rare) and easier to hit.

FWIW, the 16.5 degree 917 F2 and TS2 are some of the easiest fairways I’ve found to launch off the deck.  I’m a guy that has historically had trouble with those shots and they both work very well for me.  I’ve also previously used the 17 degree Rogue 4W and that was pretty good as well.

I've always been partial to the TaylorMade 3hl, currently playing an M4 3hl.  Might not be as compact as some but I've always found them easy to hit.
