Help choosing a ball

i'm torn
hi im 15 and a 6 handicap. My ss is around 110 and my short game is my strong point. Throughout the year i have had success wiht both the Bridgestone B330 and B330-s. The only problem is when using one, i always want some aspects of the other. I love the distance i get form the B330 but in the rouhg and chips i want that feel and spin of the s. But when i play the s, i feel like i am giving up distance to the b330. So i decided to play my ball according to teh course. My question is: In your experiences is there a ball that falls between teh B330 and B330-s. Im looking for distance with a soft feel but not too much spin. Somthing in the middle would be ideal. Any help would be appreciated

Try the Srixon Z-URS.

Longer than any ball I've tried (don't play the V1x) off woods and irons, not as spinny around the greens though, as the 330-S or NOP. So - there is no ideal ball yet.

The problem with the NOP is the wind - it is not good in anything other than mild winds). But it is long and spins well - but for me, nothing's been as long as the Z-URS (other than the 330)

I have no experience of Bridgestone balls, but I used a few different types during the summer. These included, Wilson pd4, ProV-1, ProV-1X, Nike one (gold & Black) Hogan Apex Tour (Red & Black) and the Callaway HX Tour.

From what i could make out the prov-1X and the Callaway worked best for me with the Callaway spinning a little more on short irons and wedges. My swing speed is some what similar to yours, maybe these balls might suit you.

honestly i say stick with teh b330-s. I too am in the same pickle that you are in, and i decided to stick with the spin ball, because being 5 yards longer on your drives will not be the differnce maker in your score, it is loving your short game and having a ball that you are comfortable with around there. My short game i have so much more confidence in it with that ball, and now i dont even notice the loss of distance. Its not that much of a loss really.

my thoughts exactly... what's the big deal if you're hitting 1/2 a club more into a green?!

Hello SwingMan,

What is it that you don't like about the V1x? Just curious

Hello SwingMan,

My issue with the V1x has more to do with $44/dz when I can get a B330S or NOP for $33. I've also tried them previously and don't seem to get the performance from them that high speed guys enjoy. I also find it, and this is weird to say about a ball - unforgiving? or is that inconsistent or both? I'm sure it's my swing and not the ball - but I find better performance for my game from other balls.

I agree about the Z-URS. They are super long off of the driver. These balls can be beat WAY down there! Easily 15-20 yards longer than the ProV1*'s. I haven't found them being much, if any longer off of the irons though, but I really haven't had a good chance to see what they do off the irons in good conditions. And as you've also pointed out the feel around the greens isn't what I'd like it to be. Simp

The HX Tours might be what your looking for. I play the B330s or the HX Tours it just depends on which one is cheaper when I need balls. The HX is a little longer for me but doesn't spin as well and the B330s cover seems to hold up a little longer for me as well. I like the V1 and V1x but the price keeps me away when I can get comparable performance 10-15 bucks cheaper a dozen.

looks like ill be playing the s. My clubfitter told me b330-s is ideal after my spin went down from switching to a diamana. Finally a solution i can rest easy with. With my old shaft i was spinning the ball too much with the driver and now with the diamana it is close to ideal so i get the distance and short game performance i want

the shaft can effect your drives spins like that? i never really thought about it like that. if i ever had to much draw beacuse of the spin i would fix the flaw with my swing, i never thought it would be the shaft. well anyways you found your ideal ball, and if you ever want a differnt taste i just tried the ZUR-s from srixon and that is a mighty good ball as well.
