FYI, if you're in southern new england and tired of the dried out or killed courses, I played NK last weekend, and it is quite possibly the course in the best condition in the area right now. Fairways lush, all green, and better than most private courses in the area. Greens running true and quick (like Ledgemont/Agawam Hunt, etc...) I don't know how they did it this year, but it's in fantastic condition.

I'll vote for a favorite I've mentioned a few times on this board - Connecticut National. It's always been in good shape but this past month my group has been there twice and making a third visit this Saturday. They had hosted a pro event just prior to one of those trips and the greens were just so good.

I do agree it's impressive that some of these public courses are able to do so well. When I see those updated drought maps on the TV weather reports, just about all of RI and much of southern NE is labeled as "severe". I know several other courses not far from these that are unplayable because they couldn't maintain things.

Reviving this to ask if North Kingstown is still in great shape? Looking around Warwick, RI it appears a majority of the courses are either 9 holes or private. So far, for full 18, it seems like the best options are either Valley Country Club or North Kingston.

Of the two, you will like Valley better. Haven't played NK this summer. Used to be private, so nice clubhouse, and the layout is really cool too. Had a water issue dispute with the town which has been resolved a few years ago. Heard it's in good shape now. So, others in the area, maybe a few min (15min) south to play, top of the list based on your earlier post, I'd suggest Exeter, and then a little farther south (30 min) Meadow Brook (which is in GREAT shape, played 2 rounds there this weekend in a sat/sun tourney). Both owned by the same family. Cranston is nearby also. 🙂
