Golf Balls for my son

Serious question guys...my son 16 is in love with the game and has been playing for about 1 year....Should i let him play with colored balls. (callowly makes some real good ones.)   Just asking because i would hate for him to get used to them   and then have to switch to white balls in case he makes it to college ....i only see higher up golfers play with white...(not sure why)

You can play with Yellow balls on the tour if you want, guys have done this in the past. it seems more common that guys use white balls but you don't have to

 

I find it a lot more common here. Have seen a lot of top ams using yellow. 

 

I believe it was Srixon who made this famous with their yellow Z star. Now many companies offer a different colored ball. No rule against it

Bubba Watson plays with a yellow ball. Also if it's on the conforming list you can play it in competition.

I agree with @monkeyboy let your son choose a ball and stay with it for consistency so he can gain a feel. Majority of brands now do coloured versions, callaway titliest taylormade and many more. of It doesn't matter what colour the ball is as longs you have fun and let the best score win ⛳️🏌🏻‍♂️👍

Have him play with whatever color ball he likes. My son played PGA Jr for a number of years and the majority of kids were playing colored or patterned balls. Whatever makes it fun and enjoyable for him is what he should be doing. Don't worry about what "might" happen down the road.
