Golf In Alaska??

I am thinking of going to Alaska next Summer...mid-July to mid-August time period.. to play what Golfweek Magazine lists as the top courses to play.  I have done similar trips to Florida (30 courses), South Carolina (17 courses), and Nebraska (6 courses)... and most of New York.  Making these trips is an interesting and fun experience.

 

I am looking for advice, suggestions, guidance for those who have played golf in Alaska.  The five courses are Anchorage Golf Club (Anchorage), Chena Bend (Fairbanks), Moose Run -Creek (Fort Richardson), Moose Run - Hill (Fort Richardson) and Settler's Bay (Wasilla).

I played a round during week of July 4th in Fairbanks, and they had astroturf greens.

This was 1994, and Chicago played Brazil in the world cup that week, which was held in the US.

I have a friend that plans of playing golf in all 50 states.  When talking with him he needed about 4 states to complete the goal. He had already knocked off Alaska and Hawaii.  He needed the Dakotas and Montana and one more I believe.  Have fun.

Alaska has a ton to offer and golf is way down on the list. Go hiking, fishing, whale watching, go to Denali, and play golf in your spare time or just to cross it off the list. With all that day light you can fit a lot in.

 

I've been a few times and seen the course in Anchorage, but didn't play. The Women's Senior Amateur will be held there in 2022, they'll be the 50th / final state to host a USGA championship.

we did an 8 hour boat cruise out of Seward as well as Denali and then Fairbanks and Kennicott Lodge/McCarthy town.

 

Alaska is truly amazing!
