Hey everyone, Michigan guy here and its already getting pretty cold to play. Ive always wanted to head to pinehurst and I just checked it out, and their prices look pretty awesome in november. Is the weather usually playable in november? What are the golf courses like? Just looking for any information. Thanks!

Is it just the cold or is there a better than good chance of torrential rain?  Don't mind the cold but would prefer it not to be cold and wet...

How does it compare to March weather?

Am looking at these two months for possible options.

Agree with what's stated above. It can be so enjoyable on a 65* sunny day there and in my past experience I've hit it right on 4 out of 5 tries. The one bad weather trip was 45-50* and misty with light sporadic showers. It wasn't anything I haven't encountered in the U.P. in June. Definitely worth a try to go in November.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

Thanks everyone, fingers crossed we are allowed to travel next year then and I can get a November trip in.

It’s definitely worth it.  I could be cool (50’s) but seriuosly doubt you’ll get much below that.  And while you can never eliminate the chance of rain.  You aren’t likely to get any late season Hurricanes or tropical storms.

The biggest obstacle to be aware of is the early darkness here on the east coast. When time changes on Nov 1.  It will be dark by 4:30 to 5:00.   So make sure you set tee times before 11:00 or 12:00.

I would do November before March and even April anytime.

Turf conditions - The courses are just going dormant the beginning of Nov vs the spring they've been dormant for 5 months.  Often much better conditions.

Rates - Often a little better in Nov.

Daylight - Nov can play 8-5:30.  March 8-7:30 after daylight savings.

Rain - Not overly an issue.  typical you get 2-3 days a month where it may be more rain than you'd like to play in.  Courses don't dry out overly well either season though slightly better in later spring with more and higher sun.

Sights - Nov you have the leaves turning, Spring flowers blooming.

Aeration - most courses are Bermuda and aerate in the summer.

How are the courses in the area in early to mid September? I've been in early Mid March, May, and June and courses were in great shape May and June but did not enjoy Mid-March dormant conditions. September is significantly less expensive than April/May, and June doesn't work next year so looking at early to mid September instead.

Best shape of the year in Sept.  You would just want to doublecheck if/when they did an aeration of the greens in August.
