Playing 10+ year old irons. WITB

Not quite 10 years but I recently sold my JPX 900 Tours as I have been wanting to go back to a blade. Put my set of MP-69s back in the bag. Loving the feedback and soles, consistency with them is starting to come around as well.

They've been a real joy to put back into use. They are bent weak through the set and have almost no offset, looks incredible behind the ball. Every time I've been out with them in the bag someone in my groups asks about them.

MP68s. If you catch it clean it still feels oh so perfect. Now that they're raw I think they feel even softer. A perfectly flushed shot with a ProV1 is almost too soft... almost.

I still have my Vega VDC-01 in my bag which have been in my bag since 2009.  I usually never keep irons for more than 5 years but I can't seem to find a set that I like or aren't ridiculously expensive(over 2 grand).  I might just refinish these or may look and test the new honma TR20 B irons.

Owned a raw set of those and wish I had never sold them.  Seriously great iron

'94 Hogan Apex in "5". Found them practically mint for $100 and been using them for two seasons now.

Apologies they're not shinier, I'd just finished a round this morning and haven't fully cleaned them up. I'm also trying out 48/54/60 to fit 3i back in so I have a couple thrift store wedges in the bag at the moment - don't hate on the Alien lol.

Edit: not sure why they're out of sequence either but maybe you're less bothered by that than I am.

Titleist 735cm from 2005 I. I just can't get use to the strong lofts these days and then there's no 3 iron and you need to buy six wedges to fill the gap at the lower end.Typical iron set is 6 clubs instead of 8 and it costs $1000+? Up until they started injecting irons to basically make them hybrids there were no reel advancement in iron technology.

712mbs with dgx100s, so maybe not quite that old, but some of the best feeling irons I have ever used.  They were an upgrade from mp57s with project x 5.5s.  I played a combo set of 850 forged and mp15s as a mizuno brand ambassador, but I dont see myself ever buying any forgiving irons loaded with tech.

If anything can go right, it might!

My irons are Ping Zing 2 knock offs I bought in '97. This morning I found a 5-PW set of Nike Vapor Pro Combos that I couldn't pass up, so we will see how these do.

I haven't hit anything but mine since I bought them due to being left handed and not really looking to replace them. I love my irons and have played well with them, but I like the idea of the combo irons.

Titleist DCI 990's, circa 1999 I believe.

A couple years ago I bought a nice set of used Titleist 690 MB's, which I really liked.  But after around 250-300 range balls over the course of a week comparing the two sets I realized I liked my 990's a little better.  They just felt a little more solid, and actually a little softer, which surprised me.  Maybe just due to having a slightly thicker top line and a little more meat behind the ball.  So I returned the 690 MB's and I soldier on with my DCI 990's.

Big fan of the 990's. I had them in the bag for the only tournament I played in this year.

I still have my old Titleist DCI 981s as a backup. I carry the 2 iron a lot still. Great clubs that are still really forgiving.

Got fitted in 2005 for this setup and must have been a good fitter because haven't found anything yet to replace these: MX-23 Irons, MP Series Wedges and F-50 Fairway Woods.

I will be going with new irons and wedges for sure in 21'. Will make the decision this Winter to go JPX 921 Hot Metal or PING G425. Really only moving away because it's time to go down some weight in the iron shafts and the wedges have no grooves left.
