Do you mind your irons being a little long (length, not distance)

Recommended Posts

Do you mind choking down on them? Not like stupid long but an extra 1/4” or 1/2”?  Does that bother you, or do not care?

better to be too long, than not long enough?

Yes, I have my irons an extra 1/2” long so I’m not griping at the very end of the grip.  Gives me the feeling of that little extra control.

+1/2" overlength.  It allows me to grip the club without being at the top of the grip which I was doing when they were std length.  It just feels better at this length.  Combine that with the Midsize

I’m 6’3 and have played from standard to +1 inch. I’ve found you just adjust to the height after a few swings. Longer feels more comfortable but it also changes flex a bit and you hit it further.

I find I hit my irons much better if they are 1/2” long and a few degrees upright (63.5* 7i). But, I play my driver at 44.5”, 3W at 42”, and 3H at 39.5”, with my 4i at 39”.

Yep bothered me enough to cut off grips and cut down after the first range session.  Took the clubs to loft and lied which were all over the place and trim a quarter off the butt.  I ended up hating the nippons and installing project x rifles which has been a million times better.

I got sent clubs which were +1/2” over and I didn’t know it. It completely changed golf for me. I always thought a shorter club would give me more control... nope. The right club length is the right length. Short irons are easier to hit because of the loft, not the length of the club. Ohh. Plus 1/2” and midsize grips.
