Rickie Fowler-RF Proto REV 33-Coming to Retail?

Do these matter anymore? They can't sell them as RT clubs, this is tough if without some visibility other than here. They are beautiful to look at but how many people are planning to buy them and hang them on the wall in a frame.  They way Fowler has lost his iron and short game this year who can see him go with a less forgiving club. 

It is very unfortunate for Cobra.

I’d play the s$&@ out of them if released at a normal price point.

I haven't bought a club at retail in years, but these would be preordered on day one.

LOL . .  okay Money, that is one set . . .  Realistically how does Cobra market them??  "Now you can get and play these beautiful museum quality RT irons that even Rickie couldn't play!!"  it is humorous and tragic at the same time. Probably the last time Cobra with brand clubs with a players name. Especially one who has won so few events regardless how popular a player is. How long was it before anyone put TW's name on clubs? Those clubs were well established.  It is really too bad that they "labeled" the initial clubs produced. I agree great looking, and I am sure that they must be hit on the dime dead center. I hate to see waste as in "what the hell do we do with these now?"  Interesting to say the least . . .

Very simple, all they need to do is bring these out as their new forged blades.  Take the Rev33 and RF logos off of them.  They have never really marketed their previous MB blades so no reason to start doing it now.  I think many blade players would give these a go.

Absolutely, I agree but what do they do with the first run of heads? They can't grind them down. That is what I was talking about. Although I would be surprised if they produced much more than a 500 sets. These type of clubs are never big production. But they need to something with those initial sets. If they were to another run without the branding, I would understand but it would be a small run and thus be expensive.

TW's run was either 1800 or 2000 sets. Even the great R9 TP Tour blades only had a first run of 1800 sets. After the first few sets went out they started stamping them with a B on the hosel once they decided to do a couple of variations. They sent me my set in the beginning without the B. I had to replace my 6 iron and that is the only club of my set with a B.

I believe they only made 500, a lot have been sold in Asia by the looks. Based on the images it looks like they will release a normal forged version to replace the current ones, not the original milled rev33

I have serious doubts the Fowler will be playing cobra clubs in the near future.. 

 

He will be like Woodland. Wear Puma gear and most likely playing Taylormade gear. Puma gets what they really need out of him wearing their clothes. Clubs are really less important. 

 

Plus Bryson is the the big Cobra draw these days. I think this is a huge reason that Fowler went away from the Rev irons. I have no idea when his contract is up but I am speculating he leave as soon as that is done. He also never played the Speedzone driver. Or at least it didn't stay in the bag very long.

Doesn't mean they don't release the irons, just won't have RF logo, mbs are due a replacement.

 According to our Cobra Territory Manager, new Mb's will be announced next month. Wouldn't say much about them other then they are different then the Rev33 ones that are suppose to be released. Rev33's will be RH only and $3,000CAD

It's a visual thing, even for many pros.  Jack liked offset, others have not.  It's a case by case basis.  For general public, they've just pretended the special editions with removed offset don't exist.  

 

Harder to pull that off in the information era.  🤔

im a guy who can love it in some wedges and hate it with a purple passion in long irons.  For a guy who hits a fade , it makes the shot harder.  For most it has zero to do with bragging.  And evyething to do with their experiences with that trait in an iron.

Have you ever played, or even just hit, the Tommy Armour 986 Tours?  They're a little hard to find these days, I would think their lack of offset would suit you.

beautiful but will definitely need to be bent by a pro, add weight and so on to a specific swing. personally i would put my money into a flight and a personal fitting at national custom works or someone similar. why buy something off the rack for that kind of money........

My gut says Cobra will get the MiM and HP metal printer project progressed, I can see that a new range will be here 2021/22 with maybe these Rev 33 as an option, probably a MiM marketing statement.
