Just bought one new... Ole faithful has been letting me down lately and I haven't bought a "new" putter since Bush was in office. Putted with a Sigma Tyne 4 and it was a tad big for my liking but I liked the shape. Also a sucker for murdered out clubs.

You won’t be disappointed. I’ve played 3 rounds and have only 3 putted once, which is huge for me. The distance control I have with this putter is soooo good. That’s my biggest reason for 3 putting is distance control. This just works for my putting stroke.

only concern I have is that I only roll the rock on a slight arc and I believe they say thats for a more aggressive arc but I'm not sure of the validity of such things. I putted briefly with the Sigma Tyne 4 and Cleveland's version. I was pretty comfortable.

I still haven't played with mine, only took out of the wrapper and sitting in the bag (cold weather).

I'd be very curious to know how many lefty versions they made because I don't see any on the resell market. Really wondering if I should store it away for a bit or just not care and game it.

Think if you game it, (assuming you take good care of it) you could potentially get close to full retail value. If you don't, you might make a few dollars. I'm not one to buy golf clubs and not game them at this time.

Just practiced with it for the first time (other than some rolls on the putt out rug), I'm quite happy so far. The weight, feel, sound are all so solid. Rolls the ball well. It felt softer than what I imagined without any insert or milling on the face. Lag putting never felt so easy. Haven't been this excited about putting in a very longtime. I'm not a mallet high moi guy (other than a nightmarish short encounter with an original spider).... so this has been a great compromise.

Had one, putted best rounds of my life first couple times out, even the randoms I were playing with commented on how well I was putting.  Had a bad round and sold it for what I paid.  Bought a blade and couldn’t make a putt to save my life and saw two of the Pings pop up on global golf last Saturday and pulled the trigger haha. I agree it’s distance control is automatic and I think it really is a point and shoot, I’ve had all sorts of swag, Byron, ping, bettis and this is by far easiest to use. Sounds kind of firm inside but really sounds softer outside. Balance is great as well.  I think the only other putter that comes close is a Betti minovai.

I know Ping says "slight arc" but does anybody know (roughly) the toe hang on these? I'd suspect slight means something in the 20 deg range (instead of the 40ish deg range of an Answer "strong arc" putter)?

Here’s a visual of the PLD Tyne 4, compared to my single bend Bettinardi’s with “slight” toe hang.

Obviously a more compact head, feeling wise they couldn't be much more different. The FIT face is incredibly soft, the tyne is firm but not overly firm/hard.

I have gamed the Inovai since its release in 2019, it's such a solid putter, great in mid to short putts, just super easy to align. For what ever reason the Tyne on long putts and distance control is amazing. Not sure if it's a honey moon phase but it has replaced the Inovai in the bag for the time being. One 3 putt in 3 rounds is hard to argue with. I'll be getting another round in this Sunday so hopefully it will continue.

I know it's the Indian and not the arrow.  But there is something about the tyne, I wasn't fit for it but it just fits my stroke.

I like to see all the good comments on distance control. That’s usually where I three putt after a bad initial long putt. I haven’t been able to get out with mine either because it’s too damn cold. And some stistches in the right hand. I’ve also been surprised how good it feels with a completely smooth face. Really solid feel and a million times better than those Heppler ones.

Anyone have any good suggestions for different headcovers they use besides the stock one? I don’t have other mallet headcovers, but I feel like most I see online look too big for the PLD.

I couldn't do the little stock grip on this putter so I had it swapped for the GP Tour Sensor that's grey and black with the hideous yellow writing and I think its way too heavy now. That grip is 140cc and now it just doesnt feel right. Anyone try a new grip or is it highly frowned upon to swap grips on a PLD? lol

Its crazy hard to find a totally blacked out grip. Super Stroke colors are just awful and pretty much all white too.

The stock grip is a little small for my liking, but the blacked out look is hard to beat. I put a PP60 grip on my Sigma 2 Arna and have thought about doing the same for the PLD, but the red is holding me back. I'm going to wait on any grip change until at least I've played a few rounds with it.

Not totally blacked out but I'm a big fan of the Golf Pride Pro Only grips. The Green Star is the largest at 88 cc (and ~88g). Not huge but bigger than a classic Pingman. Do you know how many cc's the stock grip is?

I thought about doing the same but I think I already knew after rolling it a bunch on the birdie ball. Is the PP60 a Lampkin?

I do not and was wondering the same thing. Finding details on the PLD's is very difficult, like they dont even exist.

The PP60 is a Ping grip. Similar-ish size I think to the Superstroke 1.0. Feels really good.

Okay, I was looking at a Lamkin grip at GG that was mostly black but a huge LAMPKIN written in red held me back.

I ended up snagging one of the LE Super Stroke Reaper grips off ebay. Figure there's a 50/50 shot its legit.

The stock grip on the PLD Prime Tyne is just the Ping PP58 Midsize, isn't it? It's a 75ish gram grip, pretty much the bog standard definition of a "midsize" grip.

It's slightly bigger than the Golf Pride Pro Only Red Star. Slightly smaller than the Pro Only Green Star. Other "blackout" type grips you might want to think about are Garsen and Rosemark, though those have some writing on them. Those are multi-material grips. The Golf Pride Tour Classic is an all-rubber midsize grip that is slightly heavier and bigger than the PP58 Midsize

I thought the same thing when I purchased mine and thought any other mallet headcover was going to be way too big. I got a Swag mallet headcover and it fits it fine. The PLD cover they sent leaves the corners of the face exposed.

Did you have to go to eBay find a swag? Their releases are stupid. Gone in seconds
