Ventus Black/Blue in 3W

Just curious as to what guys are putting in there 3w's the Black or Blue? Im a higher swing speed guy and have the Black 6x in my driver. Currently have a Tensei PW 70TX in my 3w but want to get a Ventus in there. My 3w is turned down to the small - as I use it mainly off of the tee, my thought process is that if I have to hit a 3w into a par 5 I probably shouldnt be hitting it ha. Just didnt know if there was a huge difference in launch or spin between either if anyone has done a head to head.

i play the black 7x in driver and blue 7x in 3 wood.  Personally i find the blue to have exceptional control in a 3 wood without spinning too much.  That being said i am not a super high spin player but the blue does launch better then the PW i tried and i like the feel much better.  At this point i am probably going to put a blue in a hybrid as well as i like it that much.

@Ed McNicholas Do you prefer one over the other?

personally in my testing the black 7x over 3 rounds, I hit my best drives of the year and my worst.

just couldn’t seem to get the timing right, and went back to Atmos Black.

@Fujikura Golf What are your thoughts on Atmos Blue vs Ventus Blue, knowing I LOVE Atmos black?

I like both the ventus black and blue. I find the blue is a laser in the FW wood and the 7x black is better for my timing then the Tensei PW but hey that is why they have different shafts.  I have not tried the atmos but i would imagine they are different feel wise with the velecore and the ventus being lower spin.  I can say they have nice feel and it might just be different feel that is hurting your timing.  For me with the ventus even my worst swings are kept on the course so i find it very forgiving.  That said i might try a blue in driver as i am not a high spin player because that blue just feels money.  I have been using a loaner black that was tipped one inch until mine got here and this one is starting un tipped.  I can give a bit more feedback after i try it.

Ive played both the Atmos Blue and the Motore Speede 7.3 TS ( the blue one) in fairways and even though I haven't hit the Ventus Blue yet both the Atmos and Speeder felt more "linear" to me if that makes sense, compared to the Ventus Black. No real flex point at any point on either of the shafts where as I feel the Ventus has a little more give in the mid section if that makes sense. It's not much but its there to me.

@therealjonzone The Atmos Tour Spec line was created to have a firmer handle section in each profile for a similar feel in the handle throughout the line. Ventus has varying handle/mid/tip sections that were designed for specific performance functions + VeloCore. To get to your question, Ventus Blue vs Atmos TS Blue -
Ventus Blue is going to feel a bit softer in the handle but that helps with energy transfer. However, due to the stiff mid section and ultra-stiff tip section, Ventus Blue will still feel like a stiff profile but gives you the ability to load it.
On a personal note, I've played both Atmos TS Blue and Ventus in my 3 wood and will say that it was a smooth transition into Ventus. I found a similar trajectory, with a touch less spin and have noticed that I seem to hit it straighter with even a small fade tendency (I'm left handed) where the Atmos TS blue had a tendency to go a bit right at times for me. This is just my personal experience with these two models, but hope it helps give you some additional insight.

Thanks, let us know if you have any other questions.
