Pre 2000 product cycles

Although I've been playing golf since high school in the mid/late 70's, I wasn't "into" the game or equipment until around 2000 or so. Too busy surfing and skateboarding.

I was kind of into putters in the mid 90's but never paid attention to iron or wood releases until then.

What were product cycles like at that time? Same 2 year deal we're familiar with now or was it a longer gap between releases?

I know that the driver tech really started advancing mid 90's. Was that the start of this crazy product overload?

A decent resource for looking up when things were released, tho obviously not its original intended use. Starts around the mid to late 90's for the big 5.

Search Callaway Great Big Bertha..i think that started the faster updates....then TM got the Bubble Shaft and that was cool...and my PingZing metal woods were suddenly old...but the TISI tec responded...what a Winner ! memories.....
