Best small 3 wood

I'll echo the Cobra F9 tour model. I also have the F8 non-tour, love it also. But the F9 may be the best feeling and just coolest or at least favorite club I've owned to date. Complete confidence off the tee. Like fairway woods generally I'm not automatic with it off the deck but have hit some bombs without the advantage of a tee.

I must have missed it, we’ve gotten to page three and nobody said v steel? Small head and mine launches high. Only reason it isn’t in the bag is my M4 goes further.

M2 Tour from around 2017 and Callaway Xr Pro 14 Degrees 3 wood.

I'll second the votes for any of the Tour Edge CB series fairways. Smaller heads with titanium cup faces.  I'd bet the CB2 and CB3's are as long as anything "new," if you get a shaft that fits you.  Also the EX9 Tour have pretty small heads and are adjustable.   All are available for cheap, so if you have a shaft you know works for you, just throw it it one of these, and spend your savings on a few rounds of golf.  

 

Or, as others have said, consider a 1 or 2 hybrid.  These are basically short-shafted (~41") 4-woods.  That shorter shaft helps a lot of folks hit them better from the fairway, and for me personally, they are much easier to flight down than most fairway woods.

Yeah, started to look at the Mizuno CLK and some of the others you can turn down to 14/15 degrees and add a shorter shaft or longer shaft... gives some options.

Cobra Fly Z +…..I try but it always ends up back in my bag. Best fairway wood I’ve ever hit. Easy to flight down but great off the deck as well. Play mine at 14.5*

PXG Proto is great and compact, but the Gen 4 is more of a standard size and shape

Agree with this. Own the Proto 3 & 5 woods and look so good down by the ball. Demo’d Gen4 and they were a little bigger and more rounded.

Interesting. I called them to ask and they said that both the proto and gen4 3w are 151cc

Might have been the shape of the Gen4 that made them look bigger. Demo’d them several times and they just look bigger for some reason.

I could sell you my old original generation metal Spalding Top Flite 3 and 5 woods. Heads on those look only slightly bigger that a current hybrid.

 

I can no longer hit those clubs because the shafts are so whippy, and just today I got a Ping i20 3 wood. Doesn't look abnormally large to me, and it was instant love from the first ball strike

Has anyone tried Honma TR21 3 wood?  Very traditional shape and smaller size.  I hit their 5 woods which is very hot, and can only imagine with the right shaft the 15* is outstanding.

TM Sim TI V2 Tour Issue

The old Cleveland Launcher Steel were awesome heads. There was a tour issue one with an event deeper face, black score lines and no crown marker which were even better. (I still have one.)

 

Besides those, Titleist 970 / PT come to mind. An old Mizuno MS-11 or MST from the 90's was tiny. Sonartec was ok, those NP-99 Nick Price models were cool. R7 Steel, especially HFS, was small. TM 200/300 are classics.

16 m2 deep is awesome also the rbz line produced many different tour issued fairway heads. Some were very small, my 12.7 spoon is tiny. Very tough to elevate off the deck. Basically the size of a v-steel spoon with much lower spin.
