Yeah it is. I love my i200’s but I’m ready for something now. I’m really interested in the Srixon Zx7/Zx5’s and the Mizuno Tour & Forged JPX 921’s. If they’re not right for me, I’ll wait for PING. And if I love the Srixon/Mizuno irons and happen to find $1,000 laying around — I’ll get the PING’s too. Who wouldn’t?!

It is a tough year to want new irons between now and start of season, at least if you are wanting Ping or Srixon.  Ping will obviously be a while, and I ordered a Srixon set a couple of weeks ago and don't know how long they will be on back order.

Just got a shipping notice today.  I have 90 days to try them out.  I will be watching for confirmation of something of something new coming and they may go back.

I wanted to wait for the iBlade replacement but hit the new Apex Pro and was in love. Interesting club, the “tech” in the head produced no additional distance for me, but my toe miss only dropped 1-2 mph in ball speed from a center strike. Insane consistency and forgiveness.

 

As a card carrying wrx member having the Apex Pro is no guarantee I won’t buy the iBlade replacement.

Seems Ping will be losing sales as players get tired of waiting on a release.  I am moving from iSeries to Srixon, seems others are wandering away also.

Can totally see this. Would definitely have thought of purchasing a new release had it been more on the horizon, but ended up getting enticed by a used set on the classifieds.

One of the other threads mentions that the TGX guys said they expect an iBlade and i500 replacement this year.

My fitter told me i500 and iBlade replacements coming in the fall. He didn’t mention the i210.

I think this is sussed out. October-ish release of the i525 replacing the 500, and the i59 replacing the iBlade.

 

At some point, we can also expect Glide Forged 2 and Glide 4. I think that's what's expected this calendar year.

Also, I just looked at the new trademarks. i230 is going to be the next in that series by the looks of it. The "iCrossover" is an interesting one to let your mind go wild with. Likely something that fills those pesky 4 & 5 iron spots but without being as thicc as the 425 cross. 

 

In addition, there's an AWT 3.0 coming. So new shaft probably.

I asked a fitter I know and they said Ping asked them to pull the i500. Also to @Lefty87's point TXG said no i210 replacement coming.

I just picked up a set of i500s as my gamer set this year. I realize they are 2 years old in terms of retail shelf life, but honestly, that towering high trajectory combined with 1/2 club more distance than my previous set - I didn’t mind buying a set that might be soon replaced.

 

I’m trying to be super careful with them in terms of protecting the from bag chatter.

 

Their replacements would have to be something really special to knock these out of the bag.

I haven't found the wear to be bad.  Initially they kind of start showing marks, then it blends and they look great.  They are golf clubs, so hitting the ground is required...lol. 

 

This is 2.5 full seasons...or something.  I got them the week they came out.  

 

I still dislike the range ball sound.  But no issue with the prov on the course.  Hit them solid, they feel good, sound good and perform beautifully.  I don't get fliers.  I've gotten away with some thin, or toe shots.  But wear marks on face are pretty consistent to the middle.  

 

Still love...will buy the s**t out of the replacement.

I’m assuming it’s Remove the i500 from their fitting matrix or fitting cart.

 

My fitter was told to remove them from his fitting cart.

There will not be an i500 replacement; this came from a Ping rep.  It was disappointing news, at least for me; I love the i500, and was looking forward to the updated version.

 

I assume that this is what Ping does from time to time to "clean up" the product line.  The only question, at least to me, is what technology the i210 replacement will be.

I don’t/won’t release anyone’s name. Was working directly with a guy who’s well well informed at PING. Was getting fit for something else but started shooting the breeze about i210 and how good they are. Talked about how good looking iblade was/is but didn’t like the towering launch. He didn’t give specifics and I didn’t press but he said there’s something coming this summer that “you’ll love”- his words. Assuming i59. But like I said. I didn’t press him at all.

Same finish issue with all ping irons basically since g30s. The hydropearl finish wears pretty quickly and makes irons look way worse condition than they are after a short time period. Purely a cosmetic issue, ping irons hold the test of time better than most.
