You talkin about prackice?

But you can't hit balls with one of those...   Correct! We are not trying to reinvent the training tool or say we're the first to think of this concept, just provide an option for golfers

I have this practice shaft and used it for the first time tonight.

Its not as whippy as I thought it would be but I have a meager 102MPH driver SS and probably around 105MPH ball speed with 8 iron.

A few takeaways...

1.) I love the feeling of the shaft loading at the top. Kinda a "aha" moment for me to transition to downswing. It took me about 10 balls to groove this feeling (after hitting about 20 or so just regular swing)

2.) The shaft kick feels amazing. I had it paired with an old JPX900 Tour. I got my ball speed up to 110-113MPH for a few shots after grooving the feel.

3.) The club was built to standard length and came out to D1 swingweight but I had a 58R tour velvet which is at least 3g heavier than most grips. A bit of lead tape solved it.  Wanted the club to lag so made sure SW was right.

4.) After practicing with the club, I went to my Honma 747v 8 iron and started carrying it 155ish vs my normal 145ish carry.  The big difference was much more solid contact and spin axis was greatly reduced. I have a few shots with less than 50 R/L spin axis.

Overall thought:

Its worth getting if you have issues having clubface square to path. This thing promoted a lot of rotation in my lower body and the results are initially very good. Its also very good to know of how load/lag/kick feels.

@Fujikura Golf how do you choose what model to go with?

Like current iron shaft weight, if you are in like 120gr shaft go with the purple and in 100gr shaft go with the pink? Or is it by swing speed?

If you want to try in a wedge do you tip a little or just install straight in and butt cut?

Pink is parallel and purple is tapered if it matters.

@laxwax

The Practice (Pink) model was intended for those who game lighter weight iron shafts, Practice PLUS (Purple) for those gaming 100g+ iron shafts. HOWEVER, we all have tried the Pink model in our office and found its lighter weight to also work well at exposing issues + the lighter weight seems to make you concentrate more on replicating a smoother swing (that's my personal take). The CPMs/Stiffness are nearly the same for both models. The tips are different - Pink - parallel vs Purple tapered, but the Pink model can still be tapered to work with .355 iron/wedge heads.

I wouldn't suggest more than .5" tipping on these as they are designed to be installed straight in and then butt cut to length.

- great questions, hope this helps!

- Austin, Fujikura

Just had a club built with Practice Plus (Purple) shaft and T200 7i head.  Great results. Forces me to smooth it out at the top and then release properly. Holds up really well through impact when you make a good pass. Forces me to hit a nice solid 170y 7i. Overall I would say so far for me it is worth getting to work on transition and timing.

@Fujikura Golf Would love to build a driver this way too. Are there any shafts in the current line that would behave with similar / suitable characteristics for this please? Any plans?

Very happy with my purple practice shaft from Fujikura. I installed in a Titleist AP3 and it is a fantastic practice aid!! Practiced with it for a week and have hit the ball much better.

Mine is due to arrive today - ordered on Friday after not being able to find any online - then read this thread and got it from Golf Shafts America? Crazy really.

Looking forward to working with it - I cast at the top and then try to recover on the way down to impact.

I am hoping that this will help me create a much improved transition.

Using a Rogue Pro 7 Iron head.

I have a Mevo + at home in the garden - i plan to do some befores and afters with some data to back it up.

6iron heads are the easiest "extra" iron head to find since they are demo heads. Can this be used in a 6i? or is it pre-cut shorter and meant for 7i or less?

The Purple one I got I put into a Miura 6 iron head I sourced, just trimmed it a smidge for a standard length. I can see if you play oversized irons the 7i being the limit since its not a 40" raw shaft 🙂

Turns out the 7 iron head I got was a cart head, so I had to send it back. 2nd one (a JPX 900) was the same 🙄

So 3rd time lucky, I paid a bit extra and ended up with a Nike Victory 6 iron blade.

Looking online the specs for this club, the 6 iron at that time is basically a 7 iron nowadays.

First impressions : I swing at about 83mph with a 7 iron, I can feel the kick on the way down. But not so much at the top.

Does this mean I don’t swing hard enough?

I have bought this shaft because I throw the club a little over the line on the way down and I want to create the time required to eliminate this tendency.

it was only a quick test, and didn’t have any data to back it up. But will do later.

Just got mine built up! Is it recommended to make the lie angle more upright because this shaft will droop a lot more?

EDIT: I just went and watched the TXG video again and saw that after a couple of Ian's shots the toe down was 8.6* and 9*. That must throw off the goal of trying to hit straight shots with the training club wouldn't it?

That's an interesting question.  The deflection through impact is helping with timing, but would the vertical deflection effectively lengthen the club and cause bad strike patterns (too much heel side)?

Thanks for the information, great to know that it works in a 6 iron head. I have two 6 iron heads lying around and wanted to get one of these shafts installed, but thought it would only work in a 7.

I installed my purple in a 7i head but went 1/2” longer to match my specs. Have hit for a month with no issues. Great training aid and worth $100.
