2020 Onoff Kuro Irons ?

I'm wondering if anyone has had a chance to play or hit the 2020 Onoff Kuro's ?

I'm currently playing the 2015 model which I love but I'm curious to how the new 2020 hollowbody Kuro's stack up

I'd appreciate any feedback you could share

I haven’t hit the 2015 Kuros, but have gamed the 2020 for most of this year.  
 

Pros:

They look awesome. A bit chunkier top line than blades, but not off putting at all.  
Despite the stronger lofts, they are easy to launch.

Forgiving on mishits and not too punishing when strike location goes awry.

Balls tend to go straight without a lot of curve.

Feel is there despite the hollow body design.  

 

Cons:

Pricey. Stock set is 6i through PW and 5 iron and up is extra.

Not easy to work the ball since the ball just wants to go straight.

Haven’t played in a lot of wind, but the ball flight is a bit high and not easy to keep low and underneath it.

Inconsistency in distance control. Get the occasional hot and low spiny one that goes quite a ways when flushed.

I like them, but not in love with them as I was with my Legacy Blacks.  I keep hoping that things will click with them, but after 20 rounds with them, I may go a different direction next season.

 Sounds like I'll be keeping my 2015 Kuro's they're probably the best feelings irons I've played in the last 30 years

The more I think about it, I don’t think it’s entirely fair to try to compare the two sets, despite sharing the same name, since they are drastically different designs and concepts. 
 

I think OnOff wanted to dip their toe into the hollow body player’s category and did a good job, but for whatever reason they aren’t perfect for me.  Perhaps a shaft change may be in order since the heads do feel a bit on the heavy side and I have them in the Modus 125 shafts.  May go Modus 115 in them if I keep them around for next season.

I’m still playing the ‘13’s.  Love ‘em.  Gonna go with a bit heavier shaft soon I think.  NS Pro 950 Stiffs may be too light.  But love the current setup, just hoping to squeeze 5% better performance out of them.

I love my 2015’s is crazy how well they play. Looking to mix them with rose Porto for fun

The early versions of the Kuro were much more Player Cavity and that seems to have ended after the 2017.  I'm still gaming the 2015 Kuros and have flirted

with trying the Mizuno MP20 HMB but that will probably be a waste of $$.  My love for a single forged cavity may have me looking at Srixon's new releases.

I have the Kuro 2015 irons and I love them.  I asked a mate on TSG who had a set of 2020s for sale and he said that he was selling them and going back to his 2015 Kuros.

 

Guess that says a lot...

Sorry to bring up an old thread but any more feed back on these irons?  I have 2013 Onoff and they are probably the softest irons I ever hit not to mention very forgiving. I really like them.  Also have Vega VC-01 and they are soft but not as soft as 2013 Onoff off.  Vega does have much more cleaner feel. 

 

Just want to know how they compare to 2013 forged or even 2015 Kuro.

Cannot comment on the newer/current sets.   I just semi-retired my 2015s a couple months ago, and switched back to a newer set of 2013s.  It's hard for me to think they can improve on either of these sets, but man I sure hope they do cuz that would be something.

Agreed! I would find it hard to believe they could improve on the 2015's, but if they did... wow!
