unplayable is in your head!  embrace the wind!  I am not a good gauge - I don't mind the wind and don't think it is that bad.

I don’t mind the challenge, but there’s some high handicaps in my group and I want to make sure they have a good time. Are we talking a matter of taking a few extra clubs or just one?

Canyon Gate. I just played there last weekend and it is in amazing condition. They are done a lot of improvements  over the last year.

Hello everyone. I’m heading out may 15th through 20th. I was actually out in September and played tpc Vegas, Paiute wolf and sun(I think, might have been snow). Previously I played aliante  as well(golfnow and lack of research killed me). 
 

I’ll be tripping with a buddy who has never golfed in Vegas and plays an $18 for 18 type of course for his regular play. He keeps saying he doesn’t care about the quality just doesn’t want to travel too far. My original plan was to take him out to Paiute and play the 18 I didn’t and then Revere(I think a guy I played at Paiute with works there and said good things). But distance is a factor obviously.

 

We talked and the current plan is Bali Hai, Las Vegas National and the cloud 9 at night. The reviews I’ve read haven’t been that kind to National. Think it would be good ok or is there anything within about the same range from the strip that would be worth more to play?

I played LV National last September and definitely would not recommend it. There’s a creek running through it that’s basically a stream of garbage. Place is basically a dump.

Might be me, but it's not close HF is a better course by a mile.  Most of the holes on RR are weak as all ___.   Recommend getting some conditioning updates though as heard some rumblings about poor conditions at HF early in the year.

I used to kinda like Rhodes Ranch, not the greatest layout, but conditions were always good when I played it a bunch of times in the early mid-2010s. However, as of my last visit in 2020, they redesigned/changed two of the better holes to accommodate more houses, and the new ones are real stinkers IMO. It also took about 300-350 yards off the course yardage from the tips, just under 6,600 total now. The changes basically killed off any continued desire I had to go back again.

Highland Falls for sure. The course is also in spectacular condition.

Has anyone used the caddy service at Bali Hai? One is required for a 5some which I totally understand, but transparently speaking, wondering how they would react to us bringing our own beverages? We’re playing later in the afternoon and are all ready golf, decent players so pace of play shouldn’t be an issue.

Heading out to Vegas next week and had a question for some of the locals or people who have played more of the courses there than I have. Are there any courses similar to Paiute in the sense of out in the desert vibe that we could actually get a cab/Uber back to the strip? I’d prefer not to rent a car for the day while we are there. I absolutely love Paiute and have been out there 4-5 times now but it’s more of a hassle getting a rental car mid trip for the day if that makes any sense. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Short answer no.  You could consider Cascata as the only similar option; but it's not totally the same vibe.

Thanks to @puttnforthe8for the reply. I kinda of figured that was the case. Anyone have luck finding a way home from Paiute without a rental car? (Uber,Lyft,Cab) I am assuming it’s pretty hit or miss out that way. Any help is really appreciated. Thanks
