Newer version of Mizuno MP 53

Is there anything new out there that plays like the MP 53s? Turf interaction, launch, forgiveness in a players cb etc?

Played MP53s before I switched to MP 20 MMCs.

 

If you like the 53s, then you will love the MMCs.

Anything out there that's cheaper than MP20s? Too expensive for me. I should have stated newer not new new.

I can't compare them directly, but the MP 18 MMC is an excellent iron set. I bought a set used with my #2 shaft choice and could've happily played them for years. However, the changes made in the MP 20 version fix all the little things I didn't love about the 18s and I went to my #1 shaft choice. I didn't lose money when I sold the MP 18s as they still have solid demand once somebody else takes the value hit from new. Both are readily available cheap in very good condition here or on Ebay since new isn't in your budget (not in mine either!) If you don't have unusual spec requirements you should be able to do really well with the golf season ending for so much of the country.

i played MP53s and they were grear. I later had the MP18MMC Fli-Hi in long irons, MP18MMC in mid and the MP18SC scoring irons. Very nice irons.
 

All very similar. In short irons I found no performance difference between the 53 and 18. In mid and long, definitely more forgiveness across the face of the MMC and maybe a little on thin strikes, but the MP53 is pretty forgiving on thin strikes. I like the MP18MMC and I even think the MP18 MMC Fli-Hi’s were better than the too-bulky HMB that replaced it. Those Fli-Hi’s are sleek and easy to hit. 
 

Ultimately I went to the New Level 902s and am playing those now. Such a great deal with direct to consumer price. Kind of a blend of a Mizuno iron and a Bridgestone J40 DPC. And they’re fully forged and sneaky long. Another iron I found similar to the MP53 is the original TaylorMade p770 (not the hollow ones out now.) All forged with a tungsten bar low in long irons only, which really makes a difference. And a low-bounce, flat sole.

Splurge, bite the bullet or whatever it takes and get the new 921s.  You can have them forever or resell them for close to what you plaid.

A used set of MP20-MMC is what you’re looking for.  I’m a huge fan of the 53s and the MMC fit the bill.  I wanted to gain distance so I went with 921 hot metal pros, otherwise I would have snagged some MP20MMCs.

Truly, no.......similar technology with undercut cavity but T200 adds a bit of tungsten for assistance......I'd love to see a side by side shot!  T200 probably a bit wider in the sole; doesn't play all that wide however

i played 53s my whole golfing life and thought they were great. I wore them out and never replaced them.

 

I demoed the T200 and they were great. Didn't sound as good as T100 but I could easily use them.

Agreed......slightly different/ harder feel/sound but performance is high quality
