The rail system on the Cobra woods are great for turf interaction, I haven't tried any of the new ones but they're quite popular. I currently game a G410 LST and hit it off the turf often, I have no trouble with it and I've been playing in softer conditions recently.

Find a PRGR Egg Spoon online or on Yahoo Japan. Easiest FWs off the turf perhaps of all time.

Can't discount that there are some designs that will help though. IMHO, get an Adams Tight Lies Titanium. It has a sole design that will minimize turf interaction, and will help out of the rough as well. Along with all that, it's very, very long, which goes along with some other select Adams fairway models.

Check my sig I'm biased, but the G410 lineup and soon to be released G425 lineup have to be at the top. Super easy off the deck with the shallow face design.

Try hitting your FW like you hit a long iron. No difference between my 3w swing and my 4i swing. Divot is about the same size too.

3 wood & 5 wood were swapped out for

4 wood & 7 wood combo about 8 years ago

last year a 2nd hybrid was addd to the bag and i switched back and forth keeping either the 7 wood or 4 wood in the bag

This year i went with a G410 5 wood with stock orange tensei ck shaft.

No intention of changing any year soon

Second this

ive never been a great off the deck 3 wood player but I got a g410 (non lst) and it’s as easy to hit as a hybrid . Easy to work elevate and shape shots. And as above I’ve heard the g400 was good as well.

For off the turf, some favorites:

Tour Edge Exotics EXS 220 Fairways - great ball speed, shallow and innovative face. rails on bottom. A special club - just find the right shaft.  www.touredge.com

TaylorMade SIM Ti or Max - the Sim Ti launches a little higher - Ti Face, great ball speed. The Sim Max also gets great reviews. 80 g V sole for lower COG, etc.

Looking to upgrade to some new fairway woods for next year. Need something primarily to hit off the turf and not so much off the tee. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Current fairway woods have over sized heads and long shafts, so they are best suited to playing from tee boxes.

For fairway lies 16 to 22* hybrid clubs are the "new fairway woods".

Get out there and hit as many as you can and figure out the setup that fits your desired ball flight and enjoy the process. I remember when I was searching for a fairway wood and I tried out about 15 of them before I finally found "the one"  but I will say that when you get out and test them then you will pick up on subtle differences between them all and when you find the one it is very apparent. And when you do find it, hold onto it for dear life and beat the face off of it!

I've enjoyed the Tour Edge Exotic Fairways for several years and now with the EXS 220 Fairways - Reviews are great. As for me. It's offered extremely high ballspeeds, shallow face, forgiveness, pleasing launch, good feel, and the wavy rails at the bottom for sliding through the turf. At a good price. Play the right shaft and it goes... everything one wants in a fairway if it fits their game.

I think you can see there is a lot of love for both Cobra & Ping models although there really are so many great options now.  I gravitated towards the Cobra rail system in the f7 model and have been buying Cobra woods and Drivers ever since. They work for me and the older models continue to perform. The truth is its your swing and mechanics that will make all the difference in the end. I have flirted with the ping models lately but hate the “turbulators” lol. The new 425 ping woods and hybrids looks really really nice. I probably wont be upgrading anything for a few more seasons as I’m playing really good lately and don’t want to mess with what’s working.

Ironically I just order a Speedzone 5 wood with the intention of lowering the loft 1 setting to play 4 wood like. I’ve played Cobra fairway woods in the past and have found they are like going bowling with the kid bumpers up! Super duper easy!

The 5 wood has been a real big game changer for me not only on par 5s but off the tee it can be something you trust 220 plus etc. I like a hybrid in the same 18-21 degree but there’s something about that bigger head that just gives it a little more lift and height especially in tense moments.

I agree with those mentioning adding a 4 or 5 wood and even a 7 wood. Putting a 5 wood back in my bag was one of the best things I could have done this season. Accurate off the tee but easy to launch off the deck when going for par 5's.

Also have hit Cobra woods in the past and agree that the rail system on the f8 I had seemed to make hitting off the deck effortless. Cobra would be one I would have suggested right away. Even thinking about trying to find a tour version of an f9 or Speedzone fairway for next season.

I've gone with a Cobra F9 5 wood, turned down in loft a little. To me, very easy to hit from tee and turf. The rails help and I don't think it's an overly large head which gives me a bit of confidence from the turf. I didn't love the SIM (non TI) fairway for that reason, head seems really big.

If Cobra isn't your cup of tee, as others have mentioned, the Pings are easy from the turf because of shallow face. I personally don't like them for that reason from the tee which prevented me from seriously considering them.
