He did last time he tried this. I think they counted 8 greens missed with 8 iron or less that day.   I think it was the epic version he tried then.

He's still playing blades where it matters.  But pros should have to play blades.  No crutches and no expectation to help them look for balls.  They need to toughen up.

This isn't crazy.  He's just tinkers like so many of us do.  According to the article he's already been using them in the long irons and is simply going with the full set due to being in the grain on all approach shots.  Makes sense to get a higher ball flight. 

 

I mean, if you are going to change your head or your shaft to get a higher ball flight I would think changing the head would require less time to get used to.  Especially if you are already using long irons in that head.

He has already placed T2 T28 and T31 since putting GI irons (epic forged) in the bag. No one has cared yet...

Be cautious on overselling the GD Hot List categories for irons: Players, GI, SGI and recently, Players Distance.

 

An iron ends up in a Hot List category mainly from its perceived market niche, more so than scientific analysis of club performance.

I just bought a used set, they looks very nice looking, forgiving and very consistent.

I would concur on most likely taking an L, but I don't think it's the iron sets' fault. More likely cause being that he hasn't found a fairway in what seems like years at a tour event, and is picking up a longer driver yet. Rough or no rough at Augusta, we may see one leave the planet left.

Is he saying they only mow the fairways in one direction at Augusta? So they mow from green to tee, then drive all the way back to the green before they start mowing again? And that determines the grain in the fairway?

 

I hope Dechambeau is including this in his calculations.

They actually mow with an army of mowers. Staggered in one pass.  Serious. But yes. From green to tee. So all these people claiming they’re setup to roll are wrong at Augusta.

Actually at Augusta National they gang mow the fairways..they will line up several mowers to do one fairway. There have been many pictures of their mowing process over the years. Remember money  does not always enter into their decisions. So yes they will mow as Phil has described.
