When CBS cut Kostis, McCord and Macatee loose from their golf broadcast team over the winter I posted about how I wished they had done the same with IBF. His commentary today just makes me more certain of that opinion. It is one thing to be positive, but listening to his Pollyanna commentary on the antics at #8 was just too much.

On another note, while I thought CBS dumping Macatee over the winter wasn't much of a loss, when they (to my astonishment) brought him back for this week at Augusta I was surprised to notice how good it sounded to hear him on the call of the holes he was assigned. He is better than I remembered. They should bring him back full-time.

Cutting Kostis and McCord was idiotic

It's pretentious and boot-licking behavior on Nance's part.

As I recall, we (Americans) fought a war with those guys a few years back so we could tell royalty and everything it stands for to eff off.

You don’t have to lick boots, but you could spell Nantz’s name correctly

Man - DJ is taking this place apart like it is an executive course or a pitch and putt.   Augusta is not looking so special.

What will the PGA, USGA and British Golf Association going to do to save golf from Dustin Johnson?

In all seriousness I’m not really getting who they are protecting when they try to limit players getting too long. Like are the courses feelings getting hurt? I still haven’t heard a reason that has any real merit.

If a sprinter shatters the WR for the 100M, it’s not like they make the track uphill, 110M and make the runners wear ski boots.

He doesn't have to....the media will do it for him.

Sorry Bob, that last response was too aggressive. Lot of coffee today.

You’re right. Brandel, Leonard, and the rest of the clown college will make Tigers physical state known.

I just happened to catch BD’s interview from earlier whining about dizziness and such. It was cringeworthy.

No need to apologize....I got exactly where you're coming from. Tiger's always been the last guy to pass poor play off on a malady.

You can’t appreciate those elevation changes until you see them in person! Poor Bryson.

I'm gonna say it. The Masters is boring as hell without fans.

I'm not disagreeing here, but I'm interested in drilling down on the "why" of this...

Looks and sounds weird?

Makes players less emotive?

Diminishes the value of the achievement?

It just sucks all the emotion out of the players and Augusta itself without fans. I love the visual but that's about it. I might feel different tomorrow on the back nine.

It's part of the whole experience. We all know the course so well, the pin positions, the shots needed, etc. With no reactions it's just not quite right.

I have really enjoyed all the tournaments without the fans. Seeing all the yahoos in Houston on the telecast reminded me why.

I have too. But not the Masters. Maybe because they don't tolerate idiots.

totally agree with above re Finch

'he'll be okay from there'

'hopefully on the upslope, still very doable'

'no worries get this up and in and move on' (still 215 left on a long 4 after chopping out of fairway bunker)

'a bit unlucky but no real harm done, he can birdie the next' (after a 6 on a par 4.5 when you're 7 back and DJ hasn't played the hole yet)

etc etc etc

I do not like Nance.  The dude is fawning and obsequious aka boot licker.  I would rather have Johnny Miller there.  I have no real issue with Faldo but Nance should be commenting on 4th division college ladies softball games.

I agree, Nance is obsequious.  I hear he is a pretty good mc and story teller at banquets.

But Nick earned his title.

How do they spell bunker down under?  Bunka?
