That being said, the play - overall - seemed pretty ragged to me. Even the leaders were spraying the ball all over the place at times. The hole that stands out to me the most is 13. So many players trying to bend it around the corner and ending up deep, deep in the woods.

We had record low scoring in the first round for the entire field...not sure how ragged play equals low scoring?

I would argue that scoring and ragged play are two completely different things. I've had some of my best scores on ragged days, some of my most mediocre on days where I was hitting every fairway and green.

 

It's impossible to deny that the tournament was "different" this year. Can't you just let a guy have that?

From what I gather, it's a Tour Issue 2020 Scotty Special Select "tourtype", the Phantom X5 is a very different style head.  This is closest to the flowback, but with a center shaft weld.
