Titleist Pro V1 vs Pro V1x Driver Spin

Hi All,

 

This may have been beaten to death somewhere on the forum but cannot find the exact answer to my question. Two parts:

 

1. Which ball between Pro V1 and Pro V1x has less driver spin? From the research available they are supposed to spin the same off the driver but overall the V spins less so hoping someone has seen spin reduction on the driver with it. How much lower is the flight coming out on irons and driver with V vs X?

 

2. Any difference in performance noted when switching from the white to yellow Pro V1s?

Driver spin is basically the same.No performance difference between white and yellow. And, de nada

Yes, driver spin is comparable between the two balls.  Dimple pattern has the Pro V1x launching higher.  Green side spin is close also but the Pro V1x might have a bit more.

 

I prefer the Pro V1x because I seem to get longer distance off of the driver with it as a result of its characteristics.

I haven't tried 2020 Prov1X yet but my previous experience with Prov1X gave me longer distance and higher ball flight.

The differences between the two balls is more about feel and firmness preferences, rather than performance.  The X spins a bit more around the greens, but the V is hardly a low spin ball.  I think it's fair to say that players that like a firmer feel like the X, while players that like a slightly softer feel prefer the V.  But the differences beyond that are slight at best, and the driver differences least of all.

Prov V1x.   I have had cases where a Pro V1 can balloon slice on me.   Once in a blue moon I am out of position.  I think it is really rare for Pro V1x.

The Pro V1x does fly a little higher off driver and long-mid irons. That had always been my impression but I recently bought a sleeve of Pro V1 and used them for a couple rounds. Not saying the peak height difference was enormous but it was enough to notice. Especially with the driver. 

 

Fortunately, I both benefit from the (slight) extra elevation and prefer the (slightly) firmer feel and sound so there's no tradeoff for me.

 

I can not tell one iota of difference in spin between them, with any club. As recently as the 2013 versions I thought Pro V1x spun a little more off wedges and short irons but I think that spin difference has been minimized. Titleist seems to have just about zero'd out the spin and distance differences that existed in the past. Now you can take your pick for firmness and/or trajectory without giving up anything else.

I did a ball fitting and the rep said both spin the same with driver, difference is the wedge spin and ball flight.
