Lol love how the media hyped it and fans started to become bitter about just his distance. Guess golf needs more than distance, who would’ve known. 🤷‍♂️

Ha!  Golf needs green reading books - for everyone!

Not.

Then he talks about not feeling well since Thursday.  Even if he has tested negative (so far), he shouldn't have stepped onto the tee on Friday.  Still not feeling well, he should be withdrawing.

His Dad has diabetes - and Bryson is into protein shakes and red meat.  I read somewhere that he was a real fan of chocolate milk in his youth.  He had better be careful with his health, and particularly his diet.

Of course, folks said that about John Daly, and he could have cared less.

Red meat and protein shakes cause diabetes?

Obesity does.

obviously very disappointing week, not sure what he’s been doing for a month but his distance control is so poor. Not going to lose faith in him, I hope there’s a lot more to come from him

Right now there seems to be only spectacular shots and spectacular bad shots/decisions.  Nothing in between.

Got to agree with Faldo that Bryson had way too many different things going on right up to Thursday morning.  Got lost in his desire to hit it further than any other player and forgot that the score is what matters.

If I were Bryson I would be worried about two things.

The first is obviously injury. The second is the potential inability to back out of the long drive technique back to a more conventional technique if things don't go as he hopes.

The whole deal feels like a quest to gain attention and that kind of effort may not be all that good for his game.

Frankly, I thought Bryson was smarter than this.

Live from the masters noted that Bryson has been feeling dizzy and his stomach has been hurting. Hopefully nothing major.

I'm putting this excuse in my list of excuses for hitting it off the planet and bonehead decisions.  My current favorite for blowing a wedge over a green is that I got a bad number from my laser.  Who knew I really was dizzy?

Nobody was questioning his distance strategy after the US open.  He's going to be fine.  Will be a favorite again in April.

Bryson may well be ill, but he's not doing himself any favors talking about it.  He caught some bad breaks, hit some bad shots, and he's not in contention.  This happens to the best of them.

But this sounds a lot like an excuse.  He should stop talking about it.   Tiger won a US open with a torn ACL and broken bones in his knee.  This kind of thing just makes people dislike him.  Fire ants?

I'm a fan, but he's got to chill with this stuff.

Personally, I think this weekend shows us where BD is as a player.

1. He is a top-level tour pro.

2. He is trying something new and different, and he has not figured it all out yet (as opposed to DJ and Tiger and others). It will take a long time to perfect, and it may never happen.

3. He will dominate some weeks with his length when he controls his ball, and other weeks when his swing is out of sorts he will tank, because there is no middle ground with him. He can't manufacture a -1 round score when he only has his B or C game on the course.

4. Because he is on the extreme edge of technique, physiology, and human performance in a very complicated and difficult athletic skill he may never master his swing to the point where it can be replicated.

5. Everybody who said his way would dominate golf forever in the summer and fall and after the US Open is wrong as of now, and may well be wrong forever.

6. Hopefully he will continue to mature mentally as DJ and others have as the grind of always being in the spotlight and media works on his mental game.
