Growing up in the Tiger era, I always favored Tiger and viewed Phil as the competition, but as I get older, that perspective has changed dramatically. Phil is an old-school legend, and the game will be worse off once he retires. Tiger feels like a walking spokesperson for corporate interests, whereas with Phil you get unfiltered personality. The younger guys could learn a thing a two from him. Watching golf nowadays with the Justins, Rhams, Xander’s, etc., is like watching robots, one of the reasons the ratings have slipped the last few years. Please let another Phil-like personality come along soon!

Another truly awesome Phil story! I didn’t even know who Jake Owen was until this thread. That mid round tweet was the stuff of legend if you ask me!

 Pro-am spectators are a very silly bunch of people at times. I have played in a few over the years and the galleries still line the fairways like they do for the Pro's(in smaller numbers). At the events I have played in (these are the Wednesday and Monday events) it would not be unusual to have ams that can't break 110 on a good day and have no control over their ball, but still the fans want to get close - made worse by them stopping paying attention when the Am's are hitting and only watching the pro. 

 

The minute an Am shows up at the course they are endangering the fans.😏

Two guys, both extremely rich and famous, screwing with each other over peanuts and it turns into this.  Now we have people taking sides, critiquing his golf ability (which is probably better than anyone on this thread) and now accusations he is trying to kill spectators.

 

Some people wake up just looking for their daily outrage.
