Maybe I don't much attention usually, but is this course rather short? I count 7 holes under 400 yds...

This looks like a bombers paradise. If Bianca can hit fairways and putts she oughta dust the field.
Killer field too..so many solid choices.

I gotta pick Bianca, or maybe Lexi. Jenny Shin top 10.
Would love to see Karrie Webb make a run.

I think the one thing going against this being a bombers paradise is the fact there are only 2 Par 5's.  I generally feel shorter course tend to benefit the better iron players  A player like a Celine Boutier might be a good pick but after missing that 3 footer to force a playoff with Danielle Kang, Celine's game has kinda been in the wilderness.

I only saw a tiny snippet of video attached to a tweet but it looks like Jin Young Ko has been working on her English, she was saying something about being happy to see Brooke Henderson again.

Also saw a tweet from one of the golf writers saying that Lucky 6's English has improved a bunch -- and she was already pretty articulate.

These ladies are going to be marketing forces around the world if they keep winning.

Now, self, why didn't you use the shutdown to start learning Korean?  🙂

I'll be the first to admit I don't really know anything about Brooke's personal relationships/friendships on tour outside Megan Khang probably being her tour bestie, but for whatever reason Brooke seems to have many strong friendship with Korean players, she mentioned before her friendship with MJ  Hur.  Weird is probably the wrong word but I thought she would be closer to American player simply due to geography and language but as a Brooke observer that doesn't seem to be the case.

I suspect that a large part of it is that Brooke, Jin Young, etc. are strong in their faith ... and it is a faith common to both and a few other players on tour.  Brooke is fairly close with Cristie Kerr, Annie Park, and a few other American players too.

The Tampa Bay Lightening brought the Stanley Cup to event today and as a Canadian  Brooke has no desire to have her pic taken with any other trophy this week lol

@Stooch ... you notice that our good Canadian hockey player and goaltender from Smith Falls knows enough to *NOT* touch the Cup lest it jinxed her!  Of course, not that she could ever win the Stanley Cup, but such superstitions carry over to other sports and I have noticed in the past that Brooke rarely touches a trophy until she wins it!   Her Hockey superstitions are hard to shake!!

Ha ha so true, for media days at the CP leading into tournament she refused to touch the trophy until she won it.  Yani Tseng on the other hand was the most dominant player in women's golf at the time, touched a trophy at an event before winning and well you know the rets of the story.

Sei Young Kim early on seems to be picking up from where she left off.

Based on average driving distances for the LPGA and PGA, at 6268 yards, it is about the equivalent of the men playing at 7375 yards.

The course seems to be a challenge, everybody is making mistakes with bogeys or worse, just seems the top of the leaderboard Sei young and Jaye-Marie are the best so far at outscoring their mistakes.  It also seems there are birdies out there.

Foe a short course, the GIR number is pretty low.

As @scottc25 pointed out, the green complexes are challenging.  It looks like not only it's difficult to putt, but also to hit the green.

you guys stated this is a tough course with high scores... i guess i am suprised people are surprised about what they said originally? 😛  at any rate, my bet is struggling now... double bogey after bogeys on the front 9... yipes!!!

For some reasons, the driving distances are way down; Bianca 266 yards, Lexi 264 yards.

Winds were in 15-20 mph in the morning and has been slowing down to 10-15 range; we'll see if the afternoon wave are able to score better.

Bianca has been striking the ball well, but hasn't putted well; only 3 one putt in 16 holes.

you got it -- and those were the 3 putts that lead to the successive birdies on the back 9 (her front 9)...  it is what it is... (just as you typed this another birdie... LOL)... correction: if her GIR is at the 2/3 range - expect her to be treading water, struggling truth be told... eg mid 60's% GIR = mediocre round for her, anything higher, up to 80% or more = better round for sure... 75-80% GIR is her target to be in the hunt, in my view...

Looks like the early tee times had some nice wind - it's been blowing pretty bad through central FL from coast to coast this week.

Song looks to be doing well out of the gate at -2 through 5 - and -2 is T3 overall right now. Great to see.

Song and Park played together here on Sunday before driving to Tampa. They looked to be swinging well.

Scores were better in the afternoon.

Sei Young Kim, 3 behind the leader, is in a better position than after round 1 of KPMG where she trailed by 4.  She won KPMG by 5 shots going away.

Who will stand up and challenge Sei Young; Ally McDonald, Brooke, Minjee and Lydia are all in prime position to do that.
