what happens to pro golf bags after tournament

Some are customized to the tournament they are playing so its not like they will reuse them.

I have only ever seen a Charlie Hoffman bag on the bay so they don't go there.

I would like to think they go to the charities but they would eventually show up for auction.

 

Are they destroyed or put in storage by the manufacturers?

the bags from Ryder Cup Presidents Cup etc they keep. Not sure how many change bags during the year, assume they keep them or give to friends/family as souvenirs

Depends, I know a guy who does some power lifting and strength training with tour guys. He says most guys usually keep them, some turn them into barstools, others give them to buddies. 
 

He worked with Ricky when he first came out on tour and Ricky gave him one of his tour bags plus a back up set of irons Cobra had made for RF. He also one of putters that Scotty made for Rory after Nike folded a few years back. 
 

Poulter is the guy to be friends with. The guy I know and Poulter wear the same shoe size, back in 2013 Poulter gave him close to 20 pairs of shoes that he had only worn a handful of times.

Some of them will raffle of auction them off for their charities but most of them will keep them in their own personal stash.  We have a few current tour players who play at our club and some of them turn into wall art in our locker room and grill room.

My buddy used to work for Nike golf. His entire 3 car garage is lined with golf bags.

It depends on the player, sponsor, charities they work with, etc. I'm sure some of the top tier guys that have lucrative sponsorships have their bags given to CEOs, board members or are on display at HQ. I've seen some pretty sick bags that have been signed and authenticated at some big silent auctions to raise money for charity. Of course, the players probably have a boatload of them saved as well. DJ's bag probably ends up in the World Golf Hall of Fame, ANGC as a piece of history on display or saved at his house. Rory is auctioning his off for charity, Bryson is probably selling his for more protein powder..

when I worked at Barton Creek CC, we had two different Ben Crenshaw bags on display, a Masters version, and a Ryder Cup version....Lanny Wadkins once gave us a couple of his old staff bags and we gave them away as tournament trophies at a bar I worked at in DFW, he had a bunch more in his garage

If you ever visit an OEM headquarters or assembly site they have hundreds of golf bags scattered throughout their facility, holding prototypes or clubs to test etc...I bet some of those are old caddy bags that the player didn't keep , too

I know where several are.  You design and put your name on a golf course they show up in the pro shop as decoration.

You just have to find them.  Obscure charities will auction stuff off. Once aboit 5 years ago Matt Kuchar paid a guy to clean out his garage.  They sold it all on eBay and here on the BST for a charity.  Circle T putters , bags , shoes , clubs , balls etc.  loads of stuff. 
 

search “ pga tour issue shirt “ on eBay.  You’ll find a guy with a ton of stuff.  He’s a member here.  He has an in to their clothes.   Loads of it.  Bags though will be most likely be sold at marked charity auctions or on the second hand market by caddies , friends of players etc .

TOUR player basements are a great place to start looking, as that’s where most of them wind up, or in storage units. A few get given away to friends, some signed and given to charities to auction off (as one-offs, it would be by random chance that you would find one). Some wind up in sports bars (see: The Beer Hunter in La Quinta). The bags that are really soaked after a  very rainy round most likely get tossed and replaced.

Tour players get/got sent a ton of stuff by companies other than who they are sponsored by.  It shows up on fleabay but I doubt it will have the player's name on it anywhere.

When I visited Karsten Creek Country Club in Stillwater a few years ago, they had old bags from all the OSU players who turned pro in the locker room.  I imagine like others have said a lot of the old bags end up as decorations somewhere.

I am sure most are either donated to charity auctions are given to friends or stored in basement man caves.  

 

This goes waaaay back, but a friend of mine, who plays golf about once a year when he gets drug to a charity scramble, was a relative of Masters champion Bob Goalby.  His golf bag was a vintage Bob Goalby bag from circa 1970 something.  Bob's name is is emblazoned on the bag, it's actually pretty cool in a vintage sort of way.

I've seen winner's bags in the 'golf manager' or 'club pro' office at some courses that have hosted PGA/LPGA/Senior-Champions/Korn Ferry-Buy.com-Web.com-Nike tour events.

About 8-9 years ago I stopped at Kenny Perry’s course Country Creek (I think that was the name) in Kentucky and he had probably a dozen to 15 TaylorMade staff bags in the pro shop.  This was a week or two after the Masters and he had his special Masters bag front and center.  Pretty cool.  If I remember correctly, he also had JB Holmes and Shaun Micheel’s bags displayed.
