how are you determining that? Do you know the weight of the heads? Is that posted somewhere? I hadn't even thought of that problem.

I'll give you the updates here since you are looking at a post from November. I did reach out to Srixon and was able to confirm that they are offering lightweight heads for over length builds this year. I posted that confirmation either in this thread or the other thread. So I placed an order and received them yesterday.

1. Lighter heads - here's what I got from Srixon:  "The 3 and 4 iron heads are 7.5 grams lighter, 5/6 are 7g, 7 is 6.5g, 8 is 5.5g, 9 is 6g, PW is 6.5g, and AW is 6g lighter. So on average it's about 3 swingweight points to match up with the added length."  By my scale maybe 3 dozen coffee beans, so not much, lol.

2. Recoils should always come with the logo down, never seen them come any other way, but dealer sent reminder just in case.

3. 6-AW zx7, +1/2, Recoil 95 F4.  No idea when they'll come but not in a rush.  Great feel, but a little hard to judge indoors.  Broke my rule of hitting on turf - they looked so good, and felt so good that I placed the order.  Did some shaft comparisons, these are still right for me! Taking a leap of faith on the AW.

The one thing I am maybe a little anxious about is going from the 110 F4 to the 95 F4.  I know I get along well with the Srixon sole, and I don’t expect the ZX7 to be anymore demanding than my Z945’s.  I do worry about getting a little quick with the lighter shaft though.

Any added feedback on the forgiveness between the zx5 and the zx7? thanks

Though much is taken much abides;
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

Weather and gaining strength and being able to actually play are finally converging!

Had been out just with wedges, then wedges and a hybrid and finally out trying to get used to the new irons.  Honestly just wasn't going well, swing all over the place, no idea where clubs were in swing, on and on.  Last weekend hit a few shots with the new zx7s that were okay but otherwise, being a head case golfer was questioning why I even bothered to get new irons, lol.

Well . . . we had a nice day today, I needed to decompress and went out to the range for a bit and then met a friend for a quick 18.  Surprise, spending a little time on the range, checking alignment, etc., hitting some 100 yard 8 irons and getting things synced up, realizing I had my body 10 miles away from the ball at address and some good things were happening.

So first real on the course round with golf swing making an appearance and my taking a gamble on the zx7s looks to be one of my smartest moves!

Not every shot was perfect, game still really rusty, and still some downright ugly swings, but managed to find the middle on several and whether full or partial shots (really windy day) and I'm thrilled with the feel and performance.  Makes a big difference when you feel you can go after it and make solid contact.  Good shots confirmed my shaft choice, felt like nothing, actually, and distances were what I want.  You know when you miss the middle and I like that, but with a good swing my miss tends to the toe and hardly punished at all for that.  Hitting those few that were flush - love these irons!  Early season, long way to go getting into shape and getting swing ready for the season but today let me know these are the right irons for me (and the first irons in 5 years that look to be knocking my beloved Legacy Blacks out of the bag, though I'll never sell them and actually have a full set of almost new and spare heads, lol,  .  .  .).

Anyway, zx7s are all they are cracked up to be as far as I'm concerned and I'm committing to them for this entire upcoming season - should be a great one!

My full set of custom ordered ZX7's arrived today. Turf interaction is outstanding. I had to try pretty hard to get the sole to dig, it goes through turf like butter.

Considered a split set but the visible cavity in the ZX5 longer irons was offputting and the feel wasn't as nice. I also found that the only benefit from the ZX5 was higher launch and a shade more distance. I don't need the added launch and given the ZX5's need to be bent weak to make the split work the distance gains would be negated.

Unless you need help launching your irons I do not believe the ZX5 offers any more forgiveness.

Shane Lowry plays ZX5 in 4 and 5 iron IIRC.  I have had both and I believe the 5 series is definitely more forgiving in the 4 iron and slightly more forgiving in the 5.  That said I like em chunky.  If the offset and back bulge bug you....go zx7.

Srixon has been slowly taking over my bag little by little this season.

Started with the RTX Zipcore’s, then tried the H85 Hybrid and U85 Driving Iron. Then bought a set of Z 785 irons, built a 565 4-iron into a Driving Iron, and then followed the natural progression to the ZX series!

Now I have ZX5 4 and 5-irons, and ZX7 6-PW, and am a full fledged Srixon/Cleveland believer, and it will take a LOT to knock the Zipcore’s and ZX5/ZX7’s out of my bag!! The feel, control, looks, consistency etc are all off the charts, and I have no idea how they will be able to top these with their next product line…they’re the unicorns I’ve been looking for!! 😍😍

I actually ended up replacing my ZX5/ZX7 combo set and I’m not going to be in Mizuno Irons this year either. Ended up picking up a set of the new TM P790’s this week and am absolutely LOVING them so far!!

The feel and yardage control for these P790’s is significantly improved over the ‘17 and ‘19 versions, and am enjoying the extra forgiveness and pop off the face so far for sure.
