Junior Fairway Wood

I saw a topic on this but seemed pretty old so thought I would start a new one.  Daughter grew so moving up to new set of clubs.  Will stick with USKIDS for all irons/wedges as we do well with them.  We use USKIDS hybrid and fairway wood now.  She smashes the hybrid but the fairway wood is pretty lack luster. 

 

I was thinking of trying ping prodi g fairway wood and hybrid and see how that compares to the USKids set.  Or if someone uses an oem fairway wood / hybird set up and shaft combo curious to hear.  I looked at XXIO online as those are supposed to be super lightweight, but run pretty expensive.  Just curious on thoughts before I pull the trigger and make a buy.

Oh yeah kid is 8 year old girl moving 51 inch to 54 inch.

Consider a 5 or 7 wood.  The Ping G400 or G410 is amazing for junior golfers as well.

9YO boy. Plays TS3-54" irons and is 55.5" tall in golf shoes.

 

I bought new old stock (NOS) Callaway Epic Star 3W and 5W off eBay earlier this year and cut them down to a little longer than USKG length. Shafts are Grand Bassara Lite-Flex (somewhere between ladies and senior flex) . Overall weight is lighter which seems to help. 5W at 18* is a great club for him. 3W at 15* is good, but he needs more clubhead speed to make that club better for him. When we need a solid fairway wood off the deck, the 5W has been a go to club.

g410 look nice - the stock shaft looks  a little heavy as her driver plays 45 grams - Im thinking it may not just be a cut and go, any shaft recomendations to pair that with.

Mike Flynn at Flynn golf will hook you up with a shaft that's lighter and probably add a tip to it for you.

 

I'd search for just a head here on GolfWRX Classifieds.

My son has always hit Cobra because you can find them for great deals. Earlier he was in a BioCell with a Flynn shaft now a F6 in a ladies cut down shaft. Both have always been great and a VAST improvement over USKids. We threw a F9 head on his shaft the other day from a friend and didn't see enough difference to justify moving on from the F6.

My 8 year old boy has a Callaway Epic Heavenwood at 20 degrees with a 36inch Flynn shaft fitted, he also has a Cobra F7 24 degree hybrid cut to US kids lengths with the stock L flex shaft.

My son (54") inherited my daughter's Prodi G fairway and hybrid last month, and he is more consistent with them than any of the other fairway and hybrids he's hit to date (Ping Pal, USKG UL, Flynn Advantage, Wilson Junior Ultra).  My daughter (56.5") could have stayed in the Prodi G fairway and hybrid for another year, but I moved her up to F9 ladies 5W and hybrid (used) because it was cheaper than buying another Prodi G fairway/hybrid set.  I already had a Bassara Lite shaft to put into the 5W, and she hit that 5W well.  I haven't given her the hybrid yet, but the Ladies Fujikira stock shaft may be light enough.  We'll see, if we can ever get onto a dry golf course again here in FL.
