I tested the LZ5.5 vs the DG120S. I like the kick I could feel with the LZ better.

I loved the feel of the px lz compared to do x100.  So smooth.  It will launch the ball higher, but still right where i needed it.  I think you could soft or hard step them.  Try the mizuno shaft opti

How did you get to this conclusion? what kind of measurements is behind this?

I've been playing S300 for 5+ years...my most recent fitting for P7MC irons, PX LZ 6.0 ended up being the shaft that won easily for me and they weren't even on my radar to test.

I can't remember specifics, but my miss has been to the right lately (i'm a lefty), and the LZ's eliminated this.

I tested both when I got fitted back in late summer.

I had never hit the LZ prior to that. I had some experience with regular PX and never really liked them. The LZ to me feels much smoother than the regular PX and smoother than the DG.

DG was very good in terms of performance, longer on most of the shots I hit in testing. I believe that was product of a lower launch. LZ was giving me higher launch which was something I was after.

After 3+ months, a dozen or so range sessions and a dozen or so rounds with the LZ, I'm very happy I chose them.

It's a very different loading feel.  I have clubs in both X100 and LZ 6.5.  I do prefer the heavier shafts, as I don't hit my 7 iron 200 yards.  It would be pretty hard to instantly switch between the two shafts IMO.  To me the LZ just feels a little smoother with the transition.  It does feel like the LZ launches the ball higher, but that's not a problem for me as I tend to hit the ball lower anyway.

Has anyone tested these two shafts against each other. Or fitted for one over the other? Would love to hear the feedback of what you liked over the other. Thanks in advance WRX’s

Project X LZ 5.5 is similar to DG S300.

A better comparison for Project X LZ 6.0 is the DG X100.

Are you sure? yes for normal Project X but from my understanding a 6.5 LZ was like a 6.0 normal.

My dad at 69, just got fit for Project X 6.0 in 921 Forged, I was shocked, he came from 5.5 in his previous 900 Forged.

I loved the feel of the px lz compared to do x100.  So smooth.  It will launch the ball higher, but still right where i needed it.  I think you could soft or hard step them.  Try the mizuno shaft optimizer as it will give you a good read on shaft options.  The lz was not on top of the list, but nothing felt smoother.  My 7 iron SS is 93 but I transition fairly smooth.

Yes I am sure Project X LZ 5.5 plays to a similar stiffness as DG S300.

Like some of the graphite shaft brands such as Graphite Design or Miyazaki, people tend to think "smooth feeling" somehow means a shaft plays "soft to flex", which is incorrect. Project X LZ is simply a smooth feeling shaft which produces accurate shots with consistently reliable carry distances.

When I was fitted for my JPX 921 5-6 Forged 7-PW Tours the Mizuno optimizer recommendation was PX LZ 6.0 and DG S300.  The PX LZ as stated by others just felt smoother overall and with a firm feel at contact with the ball that gives good feedback on the strike.  Previously I was a low ball hitter, but with the LZs I am seeing a higher ball flight with no loss in distance.  In fact with the 921s I am a club to a club and half longer, but the lofts are 2* stronger than my previous clubs so I can't say for certain if it is the shaft or the club head.

I just sold my LZ 6.0.. great shaft with a smooth feel and strong tip. Could really feel the load and unload of the shaft, I just launched the ball too high with these. Mizuno optimizer recommended C tapers and they have been good for me so far. The only thing I did not like about the LZ's is that the right side came into play with the long irons. Not sure if it was related to the soft mid section, but I would push draw the long irons a little more than I wanted to.
