I suppose you could call it that, but the guy has made the cut in 6 out of his last 8 Masters, finishing in the Top 30 in 4 of those. At this point I would be more surprised if he misses the cut there, as opposed to making it.

How long has he been with Mercedes (Daimler Benz)?  Great move by Mercedes.

Not sure, a long time.  I'm guessing around 2011 as brand ambassador.  But his relationship with MB goes way back...as far back as 1987.  MB was the main sponsor of German Masters golf tournament which was started by Bernhard and his brother.

I'd love to see an up-to-date WitB for Langer. He seems to have a mix of different brands of irons, and tends to stick with what works (he had Hogan Apexes in the bag for years, but he may have taken them out now).

Also, he's stuck with the same coach, Willie Hoffman, that he first went to aged 18.

Same as WRX front page article reported except for the driver. WRX has him using a G400 MAX and NCG has him using the G425 MAX. Looks lie the WRX WITB was simply copied from earlier this year.

I don't recall Bernhard ever deciding to futz around with his swing.  His putting, many times, but not his full swing.  Perhaps YJS should have noticed.

I believe he has weakened his left hand over the years although it was exceptionally strong to start with. But otherwise he has hit bullets most of the time.

I could still see him sneaking a major in tough conditions.

Except he also drove for dough; he hit 49/56 fairways according to the PGA tour stats site. That's 87.5% fairways hit. If you drive AND putt well, you give yourself more than a chance.

Oh for sure was hitting it great all week tee to green. Just does show that 300+ yards etc is not the only way to get it done. Would be great to see him do a 2009 Tom Watson and challenge for a PGA major again. Can't quite see it happening but stranger things have happened in golf! 🙂

He would have to pull a Tom Watson. I think the British is the only one where the old guard have a shot, because the British is about who can adapt to links golf the best for the week. Balls bouncing and rolling to who knows where, generally shorter courses, potential for ridiculous weather as an equalizer.

The US and the PGA are too long and rough too thick unless you have a miracle driving accuracy week you just can't compete hitting from 6" rough from 220 when guys like Bryson have lob wedge in hand.

The Masters is different with minimal rough, but because everyone wants it so badly... I mean we are praising Langer but he lost by 17 shots.

It'd have to be the British

that's a bit dismissive ... he doesn't play to win ... he plays to compete ... and he beat a lot of younger guys ... including the favorite/2nd favorite ...

I don't blame him for just showing up and hanging out with friends...that's kind of the entire senior tour. But as nice a guy as he is, he is not a factor at Augusta.

You will never hear someone like Tiger say they only play to compete. Maybe that's why he has all the hardware.

One of my good friends parents are in the same community as him down in Boca

He's a great dude apparently, very friendly and approachable

I agree The Open is his best shot but he is likely not exempt unless he wins the Senior Open

You wonder if the wet conditions helped him.  Drives shorter .. but he can get hybrids to stop on par 4 greens ...

I've said in a few posts over the past he is a vampire, he does seem ageless

He sure does have an eclectic bag of clubs.

Agree, but what really surprises me is that at 63, he's hitting "X" flex shafts. One would think that stepping down to just "S" flex would give him some additional distance with the woods. Wonder what his SS is and just what does he do to keep playing "X" shafts.

Sure he was like T5 for putting during the week also (or may have been final round?). Either way the guy is a legend. Break out the old cliché about Drive for Show etc etc.

Not sure where he finished but he had missed 1 fairway through 2 rounds and it was barely in the first cut. I bet he was top in driving accuracy. He was in the second to last group not that long ago on Sunday and he said he could beat these guys if he was hitting the same club into the greens as them regardless of the club. The problem is he has to hit long irons/hybrid to their short irons almost every hole.
