Any thoughts on the Ping G410 irons versus the Titleist T300's?

I'm finally looking at some new irons and retiring my trusty I3's.  These 2 are at the top of my list.  The G410 check a lot of boxes, and I like that I can go Retrospec on the lofts.  I really, really like the look and feel of the T300's.  Has anyone gamed both or left one for the other?

Lots of love for the 410's on WRX, number of low cap players using them. I have always been a big Ping fan, I had a set of these this year. Found them to be  a great set of irons, very forgiving, very high MOI. Not sure why I sold them, but one never really needs a reason it seems.  The T300's have intrigued me as well, like the  lower CG, along with the standard features aiding in forgiveness. Some won't like the strong lofts, but I would like and probably need to have the 48 & 53 wedges  to compliment the set. 

 

Another golf site has named the T300's as their  Most Wanted GI iron. The 410's are tested as well, they ended up in the middle of the pack in their testing. Didn't think one could get much more of a forgiving club than the 410's but someone sure seems to think so...

 

For me the lower CG in the T300's has me wanting to try these out on the course, that usually means buying up a set.  Seem to be on a low CG quest these days, my Japan spec Ping Rapture V2's are great in that regard, a touch large footprint wise though. Recently bought some 2006 Ping Japan spec Rapture irons, they have an even lower CG and a  smaller footprint, can't wait to try those out this spring.  

 

The newer tech in the T300's with the low CG and strong lofts has me wanting to test new vs old.

Not a 100% sure.  I find myself on the outside looking in regarding the lower handicap bracket at this time unfortunately.  The old stand by of "Why make the game even harder" has been bantered around regarding SGI/GI irons on numerous occasions.  KJ Choi played the G400's during the 2018 Valerio Texas Open, he has used G15's in the past if I'm not mistaken.  Here is a statement from the President of Ping regarding the G410 irons. 

 

John K. Solheim, PING’s President said, “In the G410 iron, our engineers challenged the idea that you can’t make an iron smaller and increase the forgiveness at the same time. They’ve developed a clean, highly appealing design with less offset and a significantly higher MOI when compared to the G400 iron. It’s the most forgiving iron of its size. It will appeal to a very wide range of golfers as it produces faster ball speeds, maximum forgiveness and amazing feel with a pleasing appearance — all the attributes they need to hit their iron shots higher, farther and straighter.”

The G400s they replaced were very good but the G410s move to a different level of looks and performance.

PING engineers were able to take weight from the face and move it to the toe and hosel which raised the modulus of inertia (MOI) or resistance to twisting by 8%. MOI is a good measurement of how forgiving a club will be.

Another improvement is additional face flex at impact and as we all know this means more ball speed and higher trajectory. PING says the face is “decoupled” from the head’s weight structure, but you can interpret that to mean more of the face flexes which, with their COR-Eye face construction, gives the results golfers want.

If you are a sweeper of the ball I would advise the T300s.  I am a sweeper and really like the T300s.  I wanted to like the G410s, but I cannot get along with the sole.

My guess is it's mostly guys who've used a lot of Ping in their lives and are used to Ping's somewhat unique head shape and offsets, plus buy into their overall philosophy of more forgiveness. 

 

I used Eye2s, I5's, etc...Eventually it just becomes "why not the G's"

I’d wait and look at g425.  That iron looks like a marvel in size for forgiveness.

I own the T300s and have played a round with the Ping 710s.  Both great clubs and I prefer the dark finish on the Pings but performance wise the T300s are hard to beat for me.  Great distance, good feel and outstanding forgiveness in a package that conceals it's size really well.  Sure you cant go wrong either way if properly fit.  Good luck

Thanks for the replies.  I will definitely wait until the 425's drop to compare.  I have tried both the 415 and the T300.  It feels like a toss up at this point, but I'm leaning to the T300.

 

The thought has crossed my mind to build a T100/T300 combo set.  This could be the ticket.
