Mizuno 921 Tours...any reviews yet?

Now that they have been on the market for a bit, anyone have thoughts they can share on the 921T’s?

I have mmc 20 and i compared size in store... they seemed to be the same size if not a very tiny touch smaller but apparently not as forgiving as mmc and i wonder also how true this is? I know one thing... they are very nice looking irons.

Thank you. I’m planning on getting a set or picking up some 919T’s. The T100s with DG’s aren’t quite as nice feeling and but I like the forgiveness. MMC’s or Tours might make the cut.

I tested the tours a couple of times over the last month and have been seriously thinking about picking up a set.  They are not quite as soft as the mmc, but feel really solid.  During the test, I was getting really good ball speeds and very consistent spin.  Some of the best spin deviation I have seen.  Easy to flight and just fun to hit.

I have been playing a combo set of 5-6 Forged and 7-PW Tours for about a month now.  As noted above the Tours don't feel as buttery smooth as the MP 32s they replaced, but they are not harsh feeling by any means.  The lofts of combo set is 2* stronger than the 32s across the board; e.g.,Tour 7 is 33* vs 35* for the 32, and I switched to a PX LZ 6.0 shaft.  Center strikes with the Tours feel solid and clean, while off-center hits definitely provide tactile feedback.  The Tours are a club to a club and a half longer than the corresponding MP32 but the lofts are 2* stronger and the PX LZ shaft does fly higher.   I am really liking the PX LZ shafts and you can definitely feel the shaft loading, but it does not feel "whippy" and my ball flight is higher than with the old MP32s.

Just got my 921 tour heads yesterday.  Work has been a bit crazy lately, so not much time for anything else.  I plan on getting them built this week. 

This has to be one of my favorite shape Mizuno irons, from top to bottom, that I have seen in a long time.  The progression throughout the set looks amazing!  I’m really curious to see how these play with the Accra shafts.

Compared to 900tours, the 921tours have a bit more dig to them. Overall playability is about the same. The 921tours remind me of MPs a lot.

I find them easier to hit than the 921 Forged, maybe because i like the smaller size.

 

they dont feel as soft as the MP20 bu they dont have copper underlay. Still feel 10x better than the 921Forged though

I have to agree the feel difference between the tours and the forged is very noticeable. I would say the forged in the long irons are clickey by mizuno standards. Having said that the feel is good.  The tours are just reliable/consistent and extremely playable irons.  Only one round in and a range session with my SEL set but so far they are living up to the glowing reports they have been getting. I would say the tours are on par for forgiveness with my old apex pro irons. The tours are just a top shelf cavity back forged iron. To be honest a club of this size has no right to offer the workability with the level of forgiveness it offers.  If you are on the fence about these irons you can safely get off the fence as they will not disappoint in my opinion.

I have the 919 tours and I didn't really notice a difference from the 921's.  They are great either way. Might be worth it to save some money and get the 919's because its basically the same and I think the finish is a little better. Can't go wrong either way though!

Have played 919T and have 921T on order...I did notice a difference - in the 921T the shorter irons are a bit smaller, and the longer irons seem to have more help built into them.  The scoring irons are definitely more "MP" like in terms of playability, and overall, they did feel more stable.

 

919T had a lot of toe weight, which was fine, but it seemed like it muffled the feedback/feel just a tad (still better than almost other comparables though).  921T plays more blade-like in terms of performance, seems a hint more stable, has a little better feel, and has a more noticeable progression through the set.

 

If those variables mean anything to you, as they did to me, I think it is worth the upgrade (or de novo purchase).

I agree with the mp-like playability of the 921t. I moved from 900tours and the 921t are deeper through turf while still being smooth through it. The shaping is more mp like too.

 

I don't really see any forgiveness difference between the 900t and 921t.

Just purchased a combo set of the 921 tour and HMB.  P-7 in the Tour and 4-6 in the HMB.  I agree with a lot of the statements made prior that the forged do not feel great. I thought the HMB felt more like I am used to in Mizuno and gave me more consistent launch, spin, carry etc.  Should be a fun combo once they are delivered.
