PING driver shaft

After being out of the game for ~20 years I have started playing again on a somewhat frequent basis.  Well at least hitting the range a few times a week as I always enjoyed practicing.  Intrigued by new equipment I was able to find a mint PING G410 Plus 9 degree driver head on the book of faces for a decent deal.  Not at all familiar with new shafts I simply went on the True Temper site, entered my distances, etc... and it was suggested to use an Evenflow Blue 5.5 flex shaft.  After getting it all together I went out to the range today and made some swings with it...  I absolutely DO NOT like the shaft.  It feels like one of those training clubs with the really flexible shafts.  I was able to focus on making a smooth swing and hit a few decent drives but the majority of them faded too much or if I went after it started out with a nice trajectory on the target line only to hook into what would definitely be OB.

 

My "old" driver is an 8.5 degree PING TiSi with the PING 350 Series shaft in a stiff flex.  I definitely like the feel of the old PING shaft much better than the Evenflow Blue in the 5.5 flex.  I tend to hit the TiSi with a nice "boring" trajectory.  I looked up the MPF value of the old PING shaft in my TiSi and it indicates a 4B2M...  while looking over the shafts that match the MPF code I see there are all different flex points and torque values...  I did a little research on torque values via the search function and it appears the general consensus is that torque has no effect on the performance of the shaft only on the feel...

 

I guess what I am trying to get at is does anyone have a suggestion of a reasonable priced shaft that is the closest match to the old PING 350 Series shaft in a stiff flex?

I'd give some serious consideration to the stock PING Alta CB shaft.  They usually do a really good job of matching their shafts to the club. I learned that lesson the expensive way this year.

 

I had a PING G400 10.5* Max that was the best driver I ever owned.  For some dumb reason I sold it. I've been through a lot of drivers this year.  The Cobra SZ, Srixon 565 and a Callaway Epic Flash.  I decided to the G410 10.5* a try, but thought I'd get the 'upgraded' Tensei shaft instead of the Alta. It was OK....but not as good as my old G400...it seemed like I hit high spinny balls. Went to another driver, then got a G410 LST 10.5* with the Tensei.  It was a bit better, but just didn't feel it.  

 

I sold it and went with 9* 410 Plus with the stock Alta shaft.   Bingo.  It's an absolute rocket launcher.   I hit 10 of 14 fairways Tuesday and two of my longest drives ever on my home course.

 

You can likely get an Alta pullout for pretty cheap to try.

I will definitely check out the Alta shafts.  I did a quick search on ebay and was able to locate a couple for a reasonable amount...

Consider the Ping Tour 65 also. And make sure the adapter in G410, the older adapter from the G400 isn’t compatible.
