My only complaint with the MP-20 is a deal breaker.  The topline is way too thick for my taste, the Titleist T100 has a thinner topline.  As nice as the MP-20 looks in the bag, to me it looks way too chunky at address.  I was really excited for the release, then completely disappointed when I tested them especially with how sweet they feel.  I just can’t get past the look at address.  I can’t believe my 20+ year run with nothing but Mizuno may end because they really do feel great.  Now looking at the new Titleist MB or the T-100.

MP-20 MB too chunky - no, flat out no. Easily a no, most definitely a no. Didn’t I mention that they look, act, and sound like a pure Mizzy blade?

Set one next to an MP-68, MP-5, or the Titleist MB.  My first irons were MacGregor 985, then to Nicklaus Muirfields.  Coming from the older blades and then Mizuno for the last 20 years, the MP-20s most certainly are thicker.  For me at address, the thicker topline has the visual effect of a closed face and I don’t need any help going to the left.

Look at them side by side.

Man, you’re really showing Tiger-like preferences! Mizuno has the MP20 6i topline at 4.2 mm. I can’t find a measurement for the 620MB however I bet there’s less than 1 mm difference.

I have no idea how they can improve on the MP20 blade, it is the only thing prettier than an MP4

I do like the idea of a one-piece forging cavity a la 64 or 54, but as someone mentioned it doesn't provide THAT much benefit over the blade. Having a one-piece CB forging is like having a naturally aspirated engine vs a turbo. You feel good about yourself, but nobody really cares, and if you are honest with yourself having more tech probably performs better.

But I am still on my MP4s for another few years. Finally starting to see some very mild browning, looking as good as ever in the bag. I'll probably make the switch to MP20s right around the time the MP24s come out.

I definitely don't agree with an MP20 MB being "chunky" in any way. However, to be fair to that poster, the Titleist 620 MB does have a noticeably thinner top line and, if I recall, an overall smaller profile. It was handed to me back to back with the MP20 MB in a fitting. I found it intimidating, and it was the kind of thing I thought I'd want but in reality it was too much for me, like that pic of Rickie Fowler's 4-iron that so many people think they could hit.

For whoever said they wanted to see more bounce and/or camber in a sleek blade, the Wilson Staff Model Blade is exactly that. If they nail it with the CB like they did the blade, a blended set of those will be the best, most underappreciated clubs on the market.

I bet there are guys on here who go out to eat and send back their steak knife because the top line is too thick and has too much offset.

Did you see me the other night at the Chophouse?

The thick top line of that knife was absurd and it was wooden! How dare they.

🙂  Funny post you made and almost true.
