That was my issue. Alignment and putting was good with it. Just couldn’t get over the look and feel

Look isn't too bad for me the E1 and E3 are not bad, the E4 is nicer and E5 is the nicest and one I wish was LH. The E2 is ugly to my eyes.

But yeah the feel is what's a killer for me, still going to try and make it work.

have had 3 Edels—2 bricks & 1 Workbench 602—in the past, still hunting one.

• the brick: a unique, eccentric putter. you'll love it or not feeling it, one way or the other. love the simplicity at the address. the 'zing' sound effect is where ppl split. again, love it or not feeling it either way. function-wise, the torque balance 'do' seem work. i see straighter putting line when hit sweet-spot. downside is that the sweetspot's quite narrow margin. has to be super precision when hit.

• work bench 602: beautiful craftsmanship including fluted hosel, weld-neck, deep-milled face & polished sole etc etc. then it essentially is 'another' fancy dale head**. have had it for a year then i switched back to CLN Scotty.

why moving on from such great putters? well. isn't another big part of fun of the golf "to keep trying different putters & clubs?" 🙂

Went 6 years in a Columbia and never had a day when I thought it was the wrong putter.  Had a period at the end where my misses were consistently left and decided to switch to an off the shelf used Cure putter.  Realized that my aim was excellent with the Edel, but my mechanics were worse than with the Cure.  On the greens the difference was immediate...I kept thinking that my start lines were exactly right again.  I went back to using a line on the ball to make up for the aiming benefit of the Edel and its been great putting since then.

I think combining the Edel fitting and aiming benefit with a super high MOI would be a great move for Edel.

My perspective is a bit different.  After 15 years with my Karsten Anser 5 and happy with it.  I was reading about Rose’s Axis putter witch some how ended up with me watching an Edel fitting on youtube.  I’m a good putter and green reader consistently 25-30 putts around.  But often felt the putter face wobble on the take away.  Something I heard mentioned in the Axis piece and Edel video.  Now this was about the time the PGA shutdown last year so didn’t schedule a fitting instead pickup a used E2 on eBay.  Love it.  Statistically it hasn’t significantly improved my score yet but not feeling that occasionally wobble makes me more confident in the stroke.

I'm intrigued with the "torque balanced" toe-up design.  For anyone that's used one, does it feel any different or release differently with all that weight removed from the toe?

What I feel is an absence of torque.  My stroke has very little arch I don’t feel this putter trying to influence the stroke.

I had a fitting yesterday and loved the process. I’ve changed putters probably 8 times in the last two full seasons. Currently using a Odyssey RSX 001 (which will be going to the classifieds soon lol). We figured out i align that putter off the planet to the right.

for alignment I was helped by EAS 1.0 with single line on top and EAS 4.0 double site on top and one on back.

did most of the fitting dialing in the weight. My club does usually have fast greens. I ended up being fit 25g in the head, 50 gram in the shaft and zero counterweight.

purchased it with the additional weight kit and I’m very excited to use it.

on a side not I was blown away by the look of the 4.0 it’s a popular fang style but this design is MUCH smaller and more compact than say a standard #7. Really an awesome shape

I had a fitting 2 years ago for an torque balanced E-2.  LOVE the information that the process gave me about my stroke.  I also love the putter.  My only issue with it is the feel, which has me thinking about switching and lead me to this thread.  I'm going to do a SAM fitting and possibly find a better feeling putter that I feel comfortable lining up.  If not, I will stick with the E-2.  I also have the wedges, which I swear by.  I'm just kind of bummed that Edel only has one putter line available at a time.  The original Edel putters look amazing, but you can't get fitted for them anymore.  Not sure I love the EAS.  End of the day, I'll probably stick with the E-2 for the aim, but there are other putters that just FEEL better.

Has anyone considered taking the heel weight out?

I get very inside with my stroke and I don’t feel that the torque balance helps. I’d rather something face balanced to promote more of a straight back straight through stroke.

Im considering removing the weight and adding lead tape (of the same amount of grams) the the toe side of the putter. Granted that may be a stupid idea!! 😂

but always value the thoughts of others!!

You'd have to basically fill that void with lead tape it would be insane honestly.

Plus a torque balanced putter does promote a straight back straight through stroke since the face doesn't twist much or at all.

Firstly thanks, appreciate your comment

i wonder why I have such a tendency to drag the Edel inside on the backswing then.. I don’t do it with any of my other putters and am a scratch golfer so would like to think my default patterns are decent.

the counter weight or round grip maybe?

thanks

Definitely can have something to do with the counter weight. I was rolling mine on carpet and noticed I was dragging the head a big and the only thing I can think of is the counter balance. I'm going to remove the weight but keep a bit heavier of a grip on so I don't lose all feel with the putter.

How will you remove the counter weight?

Can I ask how you removed the counter weight from the edel

putter shaft?

Mine came loose so just going to remove the grip and it will probably fall out.

Other option heat until it comes loose.

@GBGolfingtons.  if you have a superstroke with a counter weight, it is the same idea.  Just twist until loose and pull it out.  I can take a picture of what the weight looks like when I get home after work if you would like.

I'm still interested in the EDEL stuff... I need to regrip my SeeMore... might go with the round grip and see if my pro can sink a counterweight down into the shaft like edel does... I think that's what he did on his Spider.

Orlandogolfguru,

That Edel eas 4.0 with the BGT stability shaft and Superstroke Counter core grip looks great.

I still own mine and pull it out from time to time but have very rarely gamed it. I went through a very thorough fitting and found it useful in finding what my aim biases are and what ultimately works best for me to aim with other putter designs. I’ve always had excellent speed control with it but found I had a problem with pulling putts when inside 15ft. I suspect it’s because of the excessive heel weight in the head. Overall, they’re great feeling, looking, and constructed putter.
