What are the thinnest soled irons?

I want to try some skinny soled irons.  Had a set of '70s (?) Wilson Staff Tour Blades that were pretty thin and I played well with those.  Anything out there as skinny?  Not looking for anything too new/expensive as this will be an experiment for this picker.

Of the clubs currently on the market, I don't think anything is skinner than the Ping Blueprints.

Yes, looking at FG62 on ebay, FG51 as well.  These are the types of things I'm looking for.  Blueprints and the new Wilson blades look great, but too pricey for what I'm looking to try.

For an older set, the Cleveland CG1's are pretty skinny.

One can still find 1993 hogan 40th anniversary legends, which are really apex’s. They can be found from time to time on eBay in the 6 to $800 range, brand new. I think they are one of the best set of irons regardless to era or age. One of the thinnest top lines ever.

Ping blueprints seems pretty small... also tiger woods irons that are with taylormade

The bounce angle of the sole is the operative term.

 

You can compare the wider sole of a old Ping Eye 2 three iron against a thinner MacGregor M85 blade 3 iron and think the M85 would dig easier.

 

But you would be wrong.

 

They both had negative bounce angles in the long irons.

Figure out if it's skinny or low bounce you want. The Apex 99s are pretty skinny, but have a little help in the bounce, whereas old blades from the 50s through to the 80s tend to have very little.

Cleveland 588MB's would be a solid choice.

Supposedly Jack Nicklaus preferred his irons to have flat soles. I don't think "flat sole" was about bounce, so is it flat vs cambered sole that he preferred? Camber is sole curvature (usually found in wider sole clubs), and the function of camber is to prevent digging ?

Blueprints actually have a Widish sole.  
 

if you want thin find a set of 91-97 titleist tour model blades.  The long irons have a sole thinner than the head of a tee.

I have a short set of RAM FX ProSet irons that are real butter knives.  I forgot how thin those soles were.  Glad they're in my Sunday bag 'cause I'll need to ask for forgiveness when I play them...

Ben Hogan Icons have a VERY narrow sole.... I can get a pic up against a Titleist cb in a few....

Cleveland 588MBs don't have a sweetspot. I concur on FG62s, MP11s and if you can find some old Maxfli Dp30 they should foot the bill.

Indeed.  I have the MT Pro CMs with the 7 being the first of the blades.  About 10 mm width on the 7 with the rest of the lower clubs being similar.  Even the cavity irons are pretty thin.  I think the other MacGregor models right before that were also pretty thin.
