Vancouver club builders?

Weirsy101

Recommended Posts

Hi all, looking for a contact for a great club builder (not golf town, modern golf). Researching previous forum posts from 2009-2012 showed there were a few but they are no longer active. Tried reaching out to the well-known/reputable WRX member ‘Dyno’ but no luck. Would love your input for any great club builders in the lower mainland! Thanks in advance!

Modern Golf did some work for me out of the Calgary location and I was pretty happy. 100000000x better than GT.

Other than loft/lie, grips, shortening, I don't think MG in vancouver does any work. I believe they send the clubs to Toronto for the work.

Not had any work done their, just seem to recall this from chatting with one of the fellas there.

That is true, all the builds are done out of Toronto.

As for the OP, that is something I have been wondering as well, a trustworthy club guy here in the greater vancouver area....I do not have any first hand experience with these listed below but perhaps you could reach out to them;

Terry Visosky at westwood plateau;

Bill Chen at Titan Golf in Surrey;

https://titangolf.ca/about/

Lincoln Li at Fraserview Golf Academy (I think he does club work?)

Modern Golf doesn't build clubs locally, everything is shipped to Toronto.  The guys in Vancouver are great guys, definitely better than Golftec/Golftown, but if you're looking to work with a builder locally unfortunately they won't work for ya.

Razer's custom shop (check him out on Instagram) is a private guy who has a shop in his garage, he built some stuff for me and definitely wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.  I believe he does all/a lot of the building for Haywood.

Titan Golf is also one that I've heard recommended recently, they are inside Birdies & Buckets driving range in South Surrey.  Nice shop, they have a full build shop, and do fittings on GC Quad too which I think might be one of the only places in town that is using a quad for fittings.

Lincoln Li at GoGo golf near IKEA in Richmond and Miguel Sanz at Fraseview golf course, (where Lincoln used to be).

Both were trained by Winston Wong, and follow his meticulous ways,  so those who have been around for a while and knew Winston, that says a lot.

Winston was the guy at Musqueam years ago right?

yes.... The shop at GoGo golf  has indoor hitting bays and a large shaft selection....Miguel at Fraserview would be more if you had  tweaking to do probably, though I know he could get in steelfiber shafts for me. Lincoln at GoGo was mostly on parental leave in the summer following birth of their child. He may be back now but had a replacement person covering.  Miguel knows that replacement fellow well too so I accept at face value that all three know their stuff.

Winston was the first person I got a "fitting" with. He did length and lie for me. Analog technology at the time. Hitting board, tape, and a trained eye to watch swing and ball flight. I played those irons for years.

Great guy. Miss him. Not just for the club work.

Here's a sheet that Lincoln did up three years ago at the Fraserview back-end shop when  tweaking my then wedges and doing MOI matching. The same meticulous attention to detail.

Late to the game, but 100% recommend Bill at Titan Golf! He's moving to Richmond soon, but I can do nothing but rave about him and Ian (current fitter).
Super nice guys that are SUPER knowledgeable about the gear and want to make sure the gear fits YOU!

Do you know the name of the shop/store that Bill is going to be at in Richmond?

He'll be keeping the name Titan Golf Pro Shop

Is it taking the location of the Mobler furniture store that closed near IKEA?  I had heard some time in the "Covid years" that a golf shop was moving in there.

So we would have  GolfTown, Modern Golf, GoGo Goif  all off Bridegeport and Rob Houlding Perfomance Golf that I see from  Google is now located at Savage Creek. All in a few minutes from each other.  Maybe I'm even missing another fitting place.

Sounds like pretty tough comp for clients in a small area.

Yes, I think of ParTee  as more as JDM the time or two I went in, but it was to get some Galvin Green rainwear, not looking at clubs.  I think the shop space at Savage Creek that Rob Houlding  has now may have had  ParTee signage on it as  recently as late in the past summer, though I don't go to Savage Creek often.

For a while that small shop a Savage Creek was run by Jon, the guy that brought back to life the shop at Musqueum that Winston had. Winston came back to work for/with Jon, then retired and left.  Jon stayed at Musqueum for a bit, had issues with the lease arrangement  at Musqueum and moved to the shop at Savage Creek. At some point the last few years it changed lessees and I heard Jon went back to S Korea.

I should add there is still a fitting shop at Musqueum though all I have had done is adding a grip or possibly tweaking a wedge a degree....all several years ago.

TXG is also coming to Vancouver as well sometime in the near future.

I know they just opened in Calgary not too long ago...

Personally I do not get it why places choose "X" over "Y", Toronto fine whatever , the population alone justifies it I guess...

But why not open in Vancouver where you can play year round sometimes? Simply do not get the business decisions sometimes, but hey what do I know?

Continuing this topic as Lincoln is gone indefinitely, and I need some work done. It's succenh a shame there isn't a single decent shop in Vancouver. I'm not counting Peak or GolfTec because frankly, they're not up to par. (pun intended)

Does anyone know if they guys at GOGO in Richmond are doing a decent job of taking over for Lincoln or have any recent recommendations?

Anyone know anything about this guy? https://www.instagram.com/razrcs/

Or are you here on the boards lurking.....?

Thanks for the link. I think he’s the guy recommended earlier in this thread, but I couldn’t find him when I searched on IG. He’s followed by Lincoln and another guy I trust, so he “might” be worth a look.

Genuine Golf in North Van is great.  Got my driver fitted there and did a Quintic and adjusted my current putter with great results.

Thanks for the info.  I  Googled it and found the website.

I get that they are by appointment only, so that's why presumably no address is provided. So I'm not asking  you to share  that online, but roughly, what area of North Van?

I recently had some work done by Chris Jung @razrcs on IG as recommended earlier on this thread.. He's knowledgable, patient, and does good work. I will use him again for my putter reshaft, and then my iron reshafts. He's in Vancouver proper, so that's great for those of us that don't want to travel to North Van or Richmond for club work.
